I tried to upgrade through Carphone Warehouse but failed credit check
My question is can i now go to EE (my current network) and personally upgrade with them instead? I made a mistake and should have just upgraded with EE themselves, as even though i do have bad credit, i ended up getting an upgrade based on a trust deed previously. So no credit check was applied. That was two years ago when i last upgraded.
CPW did have a better deal this time, and i thought it would be wise to try and upgrade with them. Not to be
I just thought i would ask here first to ease my fears. Stuck in transport and unable to call EE right now. I do plan on calling them later.
Slightly worried because i committed to upgrading through CPW and would that mean EE might turn me down too?
Any help would be so appreciated

I presume with EE you need to have a credit check every time you upgrade, if not then there is no potential issue. A failed upgrade attempt with CPW won't matter. EE would prefer you to upgrade directly anyway.
The only potential issue is that a credit check by CPW will lower your credit score a bit in the short term. Shouldn't be the end of the world but I don't know how strict EE are with credit checking.
For future reference vodafone only credit check once and never again, even when you upgrade so you wouldn't have to worry about being turned down. Not that I want to recommend vodafone as their customer service is dire.0 -

Thanks for the input.
Are you sure about EE credit checking when upgrading? Just wondering if you might know for sure, or taking a guess?
It's just that when i did last upgrade it didn't seem like a credit check was taken. I was told my good history was seen as a trust deed with EE. I don't know how reliable the advisor was though?
I'll be calling them tomorrow morning, so hopefully there aren't any issues as i'm convinced i wouldn't be accepted with any other network.0 -
If EE credit check on upgrading it's a fairly new procedure. They weren't doing so as recent as last year...
As someone who has used their internal systems I doubt very much they do, the upgrade system is set to do an internal check on account conduct, not a credit check.
As long as you've run your account well there will be no issue with upgrading.====0 -
I don't have a clue about EE but from what I know vodafone is the only one that doesn't do a credit check when you upgrade. As far as I'm aware three do a credit check every time you upgrade. I think there is a post somewhere on this forum that lists the companies that do credit checks when you renew.
If EE don't do further credit checks then the OP shouldn't have any problems just upgrading directly with EE.0
