Parking Eye Ticket

Hey everyone,
I'm a newbie to this site so go easy on me
As an apartment dweller I pay a monthly permit of £40 to park my car on a local hotel car park which is operated by parking eye.
I recently forgot to pay the monthly fee (my own fault, no question) and on 3 separate I occasions this last week I parked there with no permit.
This morning I received a ticket for one of the days in question which was for a 32 minute stay.
Having chatted with the hotel receptionist she mentioned that I'm likely to receive more tickets this week for the other days when I've been there without a permit. She also mentioned that hotel users get to use the car park for free, so potentially I could argue that I was in the hotel bar for a coffee/meeting/visit.
I guess my main question is the legitimacy of the fine itself? What is the likelyhood of this being overturned?
As mentioned, I usually pay the permit. Would this matter?
Apologies if I sound like a broken record. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

there is no "fine" , just a speculative invoice if or when PE send it
they rarely cancel unless you can prove patronage or get the landholder on your side
with a good popla appeal its possible to get it cancelled (not overturned)
please read the NEWBIES sticky thread which explains all this , especially read the BPA advice in there
if the vehicle is on the "whitelist" then it unlikely a speculative invoice will arrive
as you have an NTK, follow the BPA advice and appeal it on the PE website using the BLUE TEXT template
the ideal scenario is a landholder cancellation0 -
WHO do you pay £40 a month to ? who issues the permits?0
-
The money is paid to the hotel and on the receipt there is no mention of Parking Eye in any capacity.
Does this mean that as the hotel own the car park, they can ultimately overturn any of the invoices that Parking Eye issue?0 -

yes , but ask nicely !
but remember , PE have done exactly as the hotel requested , they have sent ticket(s) to people who have not paid for their parking0 -
PE is not a company to trifle with. Is there no PE sign in the car park?
If there is post a picture of it here. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
There are indeed signs in the car park. I'll nip over and take a few pictures later and post them here.
Thanks everyone for your help so far.
In terms of next steps - would it be better to first liase with the hotel or file an appeal with the mentioned template on the PE website?0 -
both at the same time , but you would stand a better chance of it being dropped from the hotel rather than an appeal
however , if you failed to pay (or where you just late) they might not assist0 -
As mentioned, the issue is that I hadn't got a valid permit as it had ran out I had failed to renew it on time, hence the fine.
It sounds like chatting to the hotel is the best bet as they're also affiliated with the company I work for who are a large local employer.
Thanks,0 -
not "what" you know , its "who" you know , go for it would be a lot simpler than a PE appeal and popla , then court0

Hi folks,
Just a little update - I spoke to the hotel's finance department via email and they've said that they're going to waive the fine as there records show that I park there regularly (with a valid permit).
The main thing I'm taking away from this is that if you don't ask - you don't get!
Thank you all for your help!0
