Flight cancelled Aeromexico

Hi!
Last Friday, our flight from London to Mexico, with Aeromexico was cancelled due to fog. They offered, and we accepted, an alternative flight, via Air France, via Paris (which was lovely!).
I wonder if may ask advice.
- We had a long stop over in Paris 13hrs. We were not offered or a hotel, despite asking. We met a passenger who was given a free hotel. We ended up paying for this ourselves!
- We arrived a day later in Mexico City - so we lost a day of holiday, and ended up paying for an night at the hotel that we did not use.
I wonder where we stand in terms of claiming refunds for the hotel in Paris and the night lost in Mexico, and also any compensation?
Thanks!!

EU261 duty of care does apply in the case of delays due weather so you can try send your receipts for food and hotel to the airline stating you are claiming EU261 Duty of Care
You could try your travel insurance to see if they offer any payment for the delay or anything for your unused hotel - the airline are liable for neither0 -
And make sure you send copies, not the originals. Originals have a tendancy to disappear...If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide
