It's good to have a smaller goal to aim for when you're in for a long haul. That's exactly why I'm concentrating on the interest bearing chunk of my debt first. I find that setting a goal that can be paid off in less than a year is really motivating.
You have come so far in just a couple of months. Well done on a brilliant start to your debt free journey
Thanks DF in 5
I know deep down we have really turned a corner and I must stop being impatient. The debt wasn't built up overnight and I know it's not going to disappear overnight too. I have to keep reminding myself where I was at Christmas  Constantly stashing every penny away just to pay CCs and loans and not really getting on with life.
Now we are able to, not that we're rolling in money because we're certainly not we are just less stressed as I know that the creditors are being paid every month but the stress has lifted. It's basically been handed over to someone else to deal with.
So short term goals it is. By Christmas I hope to have paid £800 off the smaller target debt I am tackling. Or at least get it under the thousand. I currently pay £60 a month and plan to pay an extra £10 a week to it. (Here's hoping) I just checked and it's a little less than I first thought, only by £27 but that's a lot when you're in my shoes
Must get dressed, I'll be going to work in my pyjamas at this rate

You're doing great Motivated and I presume next month your debt with be into the next thousand down starting with a seven?
I have a lot of weight to lose (5 stone ) and have had it hanging around for years post 5th baby weight, she's now 17I look at it like debt and think as long as it's coming down and am not adding to it am happy! You may still see a big total there but look at what you have paid already! £2k! If someone put the cash into your hands it would be loads! Keep going with the dmp for now I say and get into a good old routine with everything. It doesn't hurt to read up about it all in the meantime.
Here's to your next months payment and that signature going down and me getting weighed this morning at fat club and maybe losing a pound :beer:Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0 -

Hi arsenel and thanks for heads up on me being in the 70s next month wow:T I would never have got this far on my own and the interest would have well and truly kicked in by now so its a bonus really. If I had 2 thousand pound in my hand I would thinks its loads yes. This makes me realise that I am indeed heading in the right direction.
As for weight gain  mine goes up and down like the weather. If something is low in calories I think that means I can eat twice as muchI cant blame baby weight either mine is 25 :rotfl:
Im sitting here now with chopped up apple and satsumaI would rather have a bag of crisps but needs must and all that.
Good luck at fat club

:hello:
Hi all and hope you are all enjoying your weekend
Update on the Motivated household. Have taken the plunge and am now self managing our DMP. Have sent all letters and budgets off to creditors explaining the situation etc. I'll be dropping to token payments for a while to hopefully push them towards defaults and to sell us on. ( fingers crossed). This will allow us to offer F&Fs along the way and tick our creditors off one by one.
My first goal is to save the money and get the HRMC debt cleared and closed leaving extra funds to add to the next one on the list and so on. I will be in total control now and and adjust things as and when I need to. I am not able to do this with SC although it's with their help that I have come this far and they gave me the lifeline I so needed. So a huge  to them.
However I am ready to go it alone now.
The NEDCAB website is amazing and I am still reading and learning so much.

That sounds like A Plan to me.
Well done on getting your head round it all, and lots of good wishes for the journey. You know you have plenty of cheerleaders and listening ears here to help you along.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Hi Cherrtfudge and thank you
I know I am going to need lots of listening ears along the way but I am looking forward to the challenge if I'm honest. I feel so much better knowing I am in control. My OH always says I am a control freak :rotfl:
So I need to hoist up my skirt and get moving on this journey or I will never get to the finish line

Nice to read how motivated you are:j
I am still here watching the progress.:)
A little tip. I have a contract mobile with Tesco. I pay £7 per month. If I accept adverts, that I can like or dislike. I can cut my bill to only £4 per month, and I have a brand new phone every two years. Mind you, I am having trouble getting used to these modern phones - I am so out of touch:D0 -

That's a good deal ( if you know how to work the phone in the first place).. I would be just the same. I've only just got my head around FaceTime lol.
Organisation and discipline are going to be the key to my success on this journey.
Discipline :rotfl:(she says sitting here with a bag of mini eggs)
Anyway thanks for your continued support it helps so much as debt busting can be a lonely place a times. That's why I love this place

Morning world
Had a nice weekend and was up nice and early for work today, very busy time at work now at least for the next 4-5 weeks  it should keep me out of trouble though
On the debt front I had a slight wobble this morning and thought  my creditors will be getting their letters today, tomorrow at the latest. I don't know what the wobble was all about to be honest. I've made the decision to go it alone and there's no going back, I was just thinking about it all this morning. Hopefully I will hear back pretty quick as I need to feel like I'm actually doing something about it all and I hope they don't chew me up and spit me out
Anyway I will just wait and see. I'll keep you updated.
Very random post this morning.
