Yes, Happy Easter to all. I have made scones this morning (at 06.00), ahead of going to my cousin's for afternoon tea.
We are collecting Auntie en route and I know she will be telling me all about last weekend when she and my cousin flew to Scotland for a fleeting two day visit with my Mum. It is the first time they have spent that much time together for absolutely years. They started their married life in a shared house with my grandparents (who sold theirs for the deposit) and the two young couples had the top two floors. We shared bathroom and toilet but had our own sitting rooms, adjoining galley kitchens (from putting a corridor inside a big bedroom with one to the right and one across the bottom). I was brought up with conversations between two rooms and according to my husband, it is hereditary! They are like sisters (sisters in law). Nothing has been said but it might be the last time as they are both in their nineties. It was a blissful, if frugal childhood, with reciprocal childcare among the extended family and Auntie is like my second Mum.
Before that I must write a card for cousin (his birthday is 19th and we shall be in Scotland), plus buy cream (maybe clotted) and possibly strawberries.

Lovely memoriesMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
Thank you all. I was very fortunate. My grandparents, then in their late forties/early 50s, were prepared to sell their home in order to take on another mortgage and give two young couples a huge leg up onto the housing ladder when neither could otherwise have afforded to buy. Lots of frugal living that I forget about, enabled my parents to provide us with a wonderful childhood.
We had a lovely afternoon at my cousin's (he's like my brother really) and as expected, Auntie was full of happy tales, together with a few (competitive) comments about my Mum seeming old in some ways, she walks badly, she's a bit slow. Auntie does not realise she is the same and Mum said exactly the same about her.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

"I'm just going out to make sure my drill battery is fully charged!" he said. "Please can you charge the battery for your hedge trimmer too?" I responded. A better than average excuse has just been provided... that is where the battery fits in!
