I am monitoring oil prices here (heating oil, not barrels on the open market!) and it has dropped by a penny a litre every day this week to 60.53ppl today for 500 litres or 60.49ppl for 1000 litres. It was £0.989 last time I bought and I was pleased it was under £1! It always used to be cheapest in April and the prices above are for delivery on 31st March.
That was last week. It is up to 63ppl this morning for delivery on 12th April, whether we get 500 or 1000 litres!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

- Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps2 -

We have maybe 20 plastic storage crates in the motorhome, and the cart lodge is stuffed to the gunnels. Lots of boxes of books are in Son's loft. I have to go and collect new silicon sealant this morning (one white, one black) - both to finish little things in the kitchen. I have better organised a load of lever arch files and box files but it has slightly highlighted that one end of the shelf is shorter than the other (and the shelf is level!) It has superficially tidied a load of toot behind doors (and I am considering whether we ever need to buy paper again, having found three more packets...
The list:- Sand the filled bits on the wall of the staircase (done)
- Silicon finishing in the kitchen (collection imminent)
- Clean windows in lounge to remove cat nose dabs and dog nose swipes (Wed am)
- Vacuum (Wed)
- Dust (Wed)
- Clean bedroom surfaces (Tues)
- Put away anything not in its place (Tues)
- Clean both toilets and bathroom (Wed)
- Clear my study vac and dust (Tues)
- Cut down seed heads in bed behind kitchen (sorry greenfinches) (Tues)
- Clear some everlasting sweetpea and brambles on the bed by the patio (Tues)
- Sweep paths in Veg garden (Tues)
- Run mower over lawn (Tues)
- Bin some hangers (Tues)
- Charity shop or clothing bin run (Tues)
- Make sure cat's litter trays are spotless (or stash them in the car boot!) (Wed [obv!])
- Take dog out for long walk (Wed [obv])

I don't think I mentioned on Sunday evening we had the spectacle of a sparrowhawk catching and killing a young rabbit on the lawn (the noise attracted us), only for a gang of crows and magpies to try and steal it. The rabbit must have been quite large as the sparrowhawk flew maybe 10m with it to a more protected place and then it could better defend its meal while it had its fill. When I checked on Monday morning there was no trace.
No word yet for DH's eye procedure. I will suggest he rings if nothing heard by tomorrow after the viewing.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Lots of paperwork sifted in the last 24 hours. Two more huge boxes to go through. My study looks lovely - it has never been so cosy and tidy! I did have the "why would we move?" thought but the house we like is lovely. I must not get too enthused about the viewing. Even if they like it, they have a place to sell.
Thanks to it pouring all day yesterday, none of the outside cutting down or sweeping up, mowing or tidying was possible. So the list was a lot shorter:
The list:- Sand the filled bits on the wall of the staircase (done)
- Silicon finishing in the kitchen (collection imminent)
- Clean windows in lounge to remove cat nose dabs and dog nose swipes (Wed am)
- Vacuum (Wed)
- Dust (Wed)
- Clean bedroom surfaces (Tues)
- Put away anything not in its place (Tues)
- Clean both toilets and bathroom (Wed)
- Clear my study vac and dust (Tues) needs vac
- Bin some hangers (Tues) still to do
- Charity shop or clothing bin run (Tues) not done
- Make sure cat's litter trays are spotless (or stash them in the car boot!) (Wed [obv!]) yes, so far
- Take dog out for long walk (Wed [obv]) DH doing this
