It’s probably worse that equally excited about reading along and waiting for updates 🤭 @foxglovesFollow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Ooh @foxgloves, I don't know about lemon but I add a little salt to the cooking tomatoes (as I cook from almost frozen there is a lot of water and the salt helps that to leech out as well as adding flavour).
I have another dozen jars coming from BRC, as I said and then a lady selling jars in Bristol agreed to post me hers so hopefully my remaining 1 clip top 500ml and two 200ml jars can be retained for pickles.
I demand to see pictures when you are done - they always look glorious and it is SO satisfying, all the way through winter, knowing you have captured the summer and the flavour and made your own.MissRikkiC said:It’s probably worse that equally excited about reading along and waiting for updates 🤭 @foxgloves
In money news the Friday spending hit my bills account this morning. It had to go there rather than the current account for shopping as there wasn't enough left. Literally crawling towards our respective occupational pension pay-days.
All that said, I used the £100 from my Mum ( for our anniversary) to put towards a pair of silk filled duvets for the van (1x9 tog, 1x4.5 tog). We will be able to try them out in mid September as just booked a few days away. A bit north of here but still in sunny SuffolkSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Nightmare. DH did not push the top drawer home in the fridge freezer, pushing the door open. All night evidently. When I got up this morning at 06.15 it was bleeping and not happy. The red light continued flashing. I cancelled the alarm, reset it and left it to it. By mid morning the red light was still flashing and everything in the top drawer was melting. Repeated attempts to restart, reset and superfreeze have done nothing and the fan is no longer coming on. I have just moved 3/4 drawer contents outside (good job the tomatoes had been processed) into the produce freezer in the pig shed and he is currently trying to squeeze the remaining drawer contents into the garage chest freezer. The fridge needs decanting to the toolshed drinks fridge next and we will pull it out, vacuum the back then re-seat it and leave it for a few hours before starting again.
Like I say, NIGHTMARE. Not happy.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Oh that is damned infuriating, @Suffolk_lass. We had a freezer die on us a few months ago & although I worked flat out on Operation Rescue, cooking things, re-doing meal plans & lunches for the week & everything else I could think of, I still had to throw away a depressing amount of of food..

Well it is on. Red light is still flashing but this is normal when the desired temperature has not been reached. I could get a replacement for £899 in stock locally. Most (not all) fridge stuff is in the toolshed small drinks fridge freezer

I feel your pain SL 😔 How come it’s only the top drawer, or am I misunderstanding? Hope the freezer has a stern word with itself and starts to chill down.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Aaaghh! That's a lot of money, @Suffolk_lass. Fingers firmly crossed here that it chills down properly & the Red Light of Doom goes off. Unfortunately in our case, it went off only until the next time one of us opened the freezer door to get something out, then it popped back on, stayed on, & thus the great meltdown began. I'm.hoping your luck will be better than ours.
This has also made me think there's nothing in my winter plan for potential power cuts & our freezer contents.

So sorry to hear this
that's so frustrating. I have a lot of frozen veg and fruit in my freezer - no meat, because I don't eat it, but even so it adds up.
