Still in the dead zone, money-wise.
Managed to get the bee cells into a hive yesterday to stop them chilling but it was very late in the day and it was piddling down. We need to visit the vile hive today to insert two which I am a bit fearful about, to be honest - the chap gave us four. It must be today as I can't face doing it on my own and DH is off tomorrow morning, rather early. Hopefully one for each hive will survive. They are almost certainly in the wrong hive of the two outside, so all four need moving. Apart from the bees I have a "Karmacat Tada list" for today:- DH is doing a repair to a new table that has lost its fastenings in the Village Hall,
- I need to shop while he is here, so he can stay with pup.
- We also need to move the sink. I have some ideas. It is complicated by an agapanthus that is trying to flower, growing in the gravel almost under it! I can't do that on my own either.
- I need to get some honey jar labels as I know the lady at the farm (that hosts vile hive) wants to buy some of our honey to give to her friends
- I need to jar some honey for the hive hosts
- And get some washing dry that DH needs to take (branded club) sweatshirts are still damp so as an exception, the TD is being used in the absence of the aga. Normally it is a 10 minute heat of wet washing so the creases come out, then dried on hangers on rails in the boiler cupboard (too small to call a drying room!)

Fame at last! **jiggles about happily**
It's surprising the number of deadlines that even retired people have, isn't it! Hope it all goes smoothly today.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Good luck with the bees. We've got one hive where I am still trying to work out what is going on and what to do about it. One swarm hive now has brood and I think I saw eggs in the other. Our best behaved hive is doing well but I'm having to raise and discard drone brood as the varroa numbers are not idea and I don't want to treat now if I can avoid it.
I froze and uncapped the last lot of drone brood much to the delight of the birds who polished off the larvae in no time at all.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000

DH is coming back on an earlier ferry from NL so will be home to sleep. I am really looking forward to him getting back. As well as missing him, the support with the dog is much missed.
The decorator arrived yesterday and did lots of prep. Unfortunately all the flaked paint off the render is all over my plants and windows, sills etc. At least it isn't lead-based paint!
I really need to rein in the spending this month on groceries. The only items on subscription are dry pet food though so not disastrousSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

He's home! Oh my, I missed him and the workload felt heavy without him. He had a really good time but I think he would have preferred a longer more meandering trip. The next two years are in Greece and France. I suspect there will be discussions about these soon as I understand that just 1% of the membership in UK travelled whereas Poland had almost 100% attendance. I am anticipating him wanting to be there next year.
We have lots to do today - clearing things from the sides of the house, there are two trellises that need shifting and their occupants cutting back and a stack of logs against the house, along with benches and pots, to make things easier for the decorator.
I have not dared look at the spend for his trip but it will coincide with the bill for the decorator, and two bits of work on my car when it is serviced early next month (re-gassing the sir-con and replacing the rubber around the windscreen (the latter has either been stolen or not re-instated when the windscreen was replaced, last year - you can tell how often we wash it!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Adult cat care can be a grind on its own, so I can imagine you must be exhausted as a temporarily single pup parent. Glad DH is back on your behalf!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thank you both. I have looked and his trip total is almost £1100 (bearing in mind I booked the ferry in 2019 and have not included that). I also have a number of big-river purchases on there totalling £350 ish but this figure includes nearly £60 of games purchases that neither of us recognise. A bit more investigation needed. It is CC statement day today or tomorrow so hopefully that is it.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
