Agree with both of you on the nice but dim assessment! I do exactly the same for all financial interactions - if it's in writing I'm always safer when I go back to question lack of follow-though.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I don't think they are doing phones so I have sent another secure message and explaining when we moved to this house (porting mortgage) so that if someone is willing to trawl their archives our old deeds should be there. Fingers crossed.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

SL - if you want to speak to a live person, could you send a written message asking them to call you in a certain time bracket? I recently had to do this with an accounts department to pay a bill for work, as they had not corrected an error made at the beginning of lock-down in March. Ended up having a lovely conversation with the head of accounts who was incredibly helpful!

It may come to that @rtandon27 - they have a window to respond to my message. In the meantime we got the letter giving us the redemption amount (dated a week before). I need to be a bit patient but I might also look at the Land Registry todaySave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Well no letter to confirm the mortgage has been paid off
but we have had a response via secure message to say their records show they have our deeds in their vaults and they have requested a search to retrieve these. That is positive. Let us hope they can find them too!
I have just put the fourth coat of white eggshell on two more doors in the kitchen. This afternoon we should be able to pop the hinges back on and the new handles and swap one over. Only 3 more to go for the wall cupboardsSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Fingers crossed that they find the deeds.
You are a more patient woman than I with all the cupboard door palaver. I'm sure they'll look fabulous once they're done though.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Well that's it. I have cancelled the direct debit without waiting for the final confirmation. They have closed our mortgage account so it must be done. I'm going to have a think about what next and whether this diary stops now.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
