car written off.

Hello all,
My car was written off last week. In short the other driver accepted full responsibility, it was all captured on cctv and reported to the Police.
The service I've received from my insurance company direct line has been excellent. Today I was contacted by the engineer whereby we agreed upon a price for the car.
My question is: how do I best go about submitting a further claim as my car was in tip top condition, bought outright and no intention on my behalf of buying another one for many years I'm going to have to pay out quite a few thousands that I never intended on doing.
Why should I be out of pocket when no blame lies with me, lots of inconvenience I have to add!

If you think the car was worth more then you dont accept the price they offered.
If you have accepted it then unless you have any other loss you accepted the price the car was worth. you cannot take that money then claim it was worth more.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You already agreed the value! (You can't now submit another claim for a "few thousands" more)0

Stavross - are you saying that you have just realised that the cost of a replacement car is more than the amount you have received from your insurance company? Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that - unless you have gap insurance, you will only get the value of your old car, not the cost of a new one.0

You can claim for out of pocket expenses, but not inconvenience."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Unfortunately you shouldn't have accepted the price of the car, if you thought it was in better condition than an average example of the same model of car for its age.stavrossthegreek192 wrote: »Hello all,

I've only been in the situation once and when offered a payout it was enough to buy an identical car (Same model, spec, mileage and age). I thought that was the idea - my colleagues told me I should never have accepted the first offer, but I thought that was OK.0

Thanks Missile:
The amount I agreed with engineer is more than fair, why would I say no and expect it to be worth more, that's just unrealistic greed in my book. I have incurred the extra expense in the hire car is costing a dash sight more on fuel than my written off one, I'm loosing out on the road tax and no doubt my insurance premiums will rise. I would expect to seek recompense in regards to these costs!0 -
You will need to put in a claim for these costs, if you have required a hire car as an interim, then this should be covered by insurance.stavrossthegreek192 wrote: »Thanks Missile:

If the other driver is at fault, direct line will recover their costs from the third party insurer.
If you have uninsured losses you will need to recover those yourself, or via representation. It should be too difficult to go direct to the third party insurers and show them what uninsured losses expenses you've incurred.0 -

That doesn't tie in with the original post. There you reference "a few thousand" due to the condition of your car, amongst other things.0
