I'm still baby-stepping through YNAB, but at the moment the biggest revelation to me is the idea of purposely putting money in the "Things I Forgot To Budget For" category in advance, instead of sheepishly doing it after the fact. Probably this is not so ground breaking for everyone else, but it is really helping shift my viewpoint about money!
Yes I love that too, I have the Things I forgot To Budget for, and I have emergency sayings, and a emergency emergency savings lol

I may call them one day, but I really an need interest-bearing savings accounts so thanks for the tips, ladies!
Glad that the thread has been useful for you tooHow ridiculous they won't count you as a new customer due to an old CC! If the account is closed then surely you aren't a customer any more?

Haha, I like those categories - I could do with those too!0 -
Not much going on at the moment, I'm in the last few days before pay day and trying not to feel panicky at the emptying bank balance. Even though I know that I have enough money to last until I get paid again and can see the evidence in YNAB, it still makes me anxious. I realise that this kind of anxious feeling is what caused a lot of my overspending and spending on credit in the past, which seems nuts!
I read about scarcity mindset and emotional spending recently and it really struck a chord with me, I'm going to add it to my list of exciting topics to research this weekend0 -
It has been a while since I did one of these and I feel like I'm cheating because basically I'm slowly revealing the contents of my Aldi shopping basket :rotfl: but my latest Bargain of the Week is Kavanagh's Organic Porridge Oats which is £1.49 for 1kg. It makes the best porridge as far as I'm concerned - really creamy and delicious. I made the switch from Flavahan's Organic Jumbo Oats (£2.39 for 1kg from Waitrose) last year and find the Aldi version to be comparable quality.0

Morning GC I have been reading along but I literally have no idea about savings and banks. I bank with Nationwide and have stayed there because I haven't had a reason to complain/move
Hope you have a lovely day

Excellent tip - I usually use supermarket own brand but may well give these a try. I confess I'm not in the least bothered about them being organic, mind!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Just wanted to give a quick update on my Student Loan repayments. I currently repay via PAYE, I've got an estimated 9 repayments left and I've heard that the Student Loan Company are not the quickest at stopping PAYE deductions (and even slower at returning overpaid money).
So, I called them a few weeks ago to ask to switch to Direct Debit repayments. I received a letter today confirming that the first Direct Debit will be taken in April. I'm not sure when the last repayment will be made via PAYE deduction (when I spoke to them they said that it "might be January or might be March") but I have asked payroll to let me know when they receive the Stop Notification from HMRC.0 -
I did the same as you GC as I didn't want to wait until the next financial year to receive my refund! The direct debit process was fine and I paid mine off about 2 years ago. Good luck getting to the end!Sealed Pot Challenge 075

That's interesting- I love Flavahan's as well. I buy their microwaveable porridge sachets to have breakfast at work. I'll have to check to see if Aldi sell their version in sachets. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
