Hi folks. Looking for some car related advice here.
I bought a 2006 BMW from a reputable company and was given 6 months warranty. I've now had the car for 14 months however at 10 months old the car developed a noise which I've finally had looked at properly. I'm facing a fairly huge bill, around £3500 to sort it. The car has only done just under 5000 miles since I bought it. Is it worth even trying for some goodwill from the company?

It is worth asking but I estimate that your chances of success are on the very low side. You bought a ten year old car with a 6 month warranty.
They might just possibly give you a discount on the work if you give them the job.
What is the noise and why does it cost so much to fix.
Is the car worth spending that much money on?0 -

I've asked and they are going to get back to me.
I'll not hold my breath though. I'm fully aware that I'm not legally entitled to anything. It's the high pressure oil pump for the vanos system. The part alone is £1800 and I've had to have other parts replaced as part of the job. Originally I was looking at a £1500 bill all in and I was ok with that. But this has added to it substantially.
The car is worth £15-16k as a running driving vehicle and about half that with the fault unfixed so mathematically it nakes sense to fix it.0 -
£15-16k at over 10 years old? What model is it?0

Oops. Thought I'd said earlier. It's an M5 with high spec.0

In which case £3,500 for a repair is cheap - to keep a 10 year old M5 in top condition to keep it's value you are likely to have spend around £5,000 a year on servicing and repairs - parts aren't cheap!0 -
