POPLA appeal for Inputting wrong reg number

Hi all,
I'm so completely lost and not sure how to word the appeal to POPLA.
To cut a long story short, I parked on Astle carpark in West Bromwich in Dec, I paid 80p for a 1 hour ticket (which I still have proof of) but inputted the incorrect reg (1st 4 of my old car and last 3 of my new one) had a fine through from Smart parking which I appealed and it was rejected (standard apparently).
They gave me a ref number to appeal to POPLA, I've looked everywhere on these forums to see how I can word the appeal for this type of incident but I'm just clueless.
Please can someone help
Thank you

Did you reveal who was parking in your appeal as you have done here? If you appealed as keeper and didn't give away the driver's identity, then edit that information from your original post.
If you have already admitted who was driving then it doesn't matter. Shame if you have though as that normally gives extra protection and additional appeal points.
Read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES then use the template appeal points in Post 3 that are relevant.
You will also find appeal points from the most recent successful posts in the POPLA Decisions sticky thread.
Construct your draft and post it here before submitting. You should have at least points covering, not the landowner, no standing to bring charges in their own name, and inadequate signage. If you appealed as keeper then you can also add non POFA complaint NTK.
It is not a fine.

Could have started with 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST' with the POPLA advice and template words being in post #3 of it.

Most judges are now finding for the motorist in these cases.
After all, why should a greedy parking company want you to pay them £100 because you entered an "0" instead of an "O", or vice versa.
Follow advice on here and appeal to PoPLA. If you lose, no big deal.

The unfortunate thing is that it wouldnt take much for the system to reject an incorrect reg number, but that wouldnt mean the likes of Smart making as much money.
Car parking management should not be about milking the motorist, but until the house of cards comes falling down thats the way it will be.
As for your issue, you should complain vigorously to the landowner, they are jointly and severally liable for the actions of their agents, in this case smart, you should also tell them that you dont appreciate wasting your valuable time in dealing with their agents and you are shocked and surprised that they think it appropriate to have an un regulated company such as Smart operating on their land in their name, tell them that they need to contact their agents to cancel this charge and you would also appreciate a refund/recompense for your time that has been wasted.
keep a log of your time/time spent, if the landowner brushes you off it may come in usefulFrom the Plain Language Commission:

My other half had the same problem as you. She incorrectly typed her registration and we had the evidence. I didn't feel confident of a successful appeal when I visited the Smart Parking website. It reeks of helping a landowner to make as much money as possible, rather than being fair to the customer. Maybe that's just me though.
Surprise surprise, the appeal was rejected. We were given a POPLA reference number but warned (threatened) that the period for paying a reduced sum would lapse by the time any appeal had been considered. We kept feeling that they were out of order as our evidence proved that the period spent in the car park had been paid for. In addition, my partner felt that keeping our 3 year old safe in a car park was more important than checking for typing errors. We understood why the letter had been generated but felt that the fine should be the cost of the letter at the very most. We appealed to POPLA and Smart Parking decided that they weren't going to contest the appeal.
Don't be put off by their appeals process if you have a case. They want your money. We have now stopped using all Smart Parking car parks.0
