Zero feedback - how to stop bidders

How do I stop bidders with a zero feedback score bidding / buying my items. I can see the buyer requirements for negative feedback, but not for numbers of feedback.

Many thanks

  • They could be new or may have not purchased anything previously so this could be the reason for a zero score, Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt surely !!!!

You can block users with less than 5 feedback if you choose the options of them not having a card registered with ebay, it's in seller preferences. If a buyer does have a card registered then you can't block them automatically at all.

Everyone has to start somewhere - you had a score of zero once upon a time. It doesn't make them a scammer. They may have joined just to buy your item, be a young person who has just started buying their own things, a person who just hasn't tried eBay before, or, like me, be a long time eBay user who has just yesterday opened a separate account to keep buying and selling apart.

Common sense has to kick in, as already stated everyone had zero feedback. If it's an i phone you are listing fair enough but if it's a signed Des O'Connor photo I'd risk selling to a newbie.

But surely the seller would have to pay the buyer to take it :D
  • Many apologies to all of you kind enough to reply, almost immediately after posting this question an elderly friend of mine had a fall and, among other things, I have taken on his dog till he is out of hospital. This thread went completely out of my mind.

I asked this as I have had a spate of zero feedback in the last couple of weeks, after many years of hardly any. I fully appreciate that even I had to start somewhere!

A few weeks ago, just before an item ended, I had a silly message saying that the item I was selling looked fake. Item didn't sell and I blocked the sender of the message and relisted it. It was bought at the end of the week by someone with zero feedback who had joined a couple of days prior. Even though suspicious, I sent the item and - yes - got an INR. Hence my present downer on zero feedback buyers.
  • My standard advice is look at the buyers address on Google street-view and make a judgement call on whether to send or cancel.

Remember that a cancellation will give you a defect, so be careful.
