Credit Card Application Error?

I need to transfer my existing c/c debt on a 0% which is ending onto a new 0% card. I checked with the eligibility calculator then went with a card that said it was supplied by mastercard avoiding all that said MBNA - mine is MBNA so i applied, got the card only to be told when i went to do the balance transfer that you cant do a transfer from an MBNA to another MBNA supplier. I knew that but no-where did it say that it was under the umbrella of MBNA. When i reffered back to the eligibilty list they nearly all say mastercard - how am i to know wether or not they are under the umbrella of MBNA or not. i cancelled the card straight away and asked if this will effect my credit rating as i have spent months buiding this up to be told they had no idea. i need to do this transfer in the next 4 weeks but am confused , how do i check that the card i am applying for is nothing to do with MBNA? when i cancelled the card they also advised me to double check when i do apply for a new card as MBNA cards have different logos and pictures on them and i wouldnt neccesarily know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check to see who it is issued by. The information will be easily visible on each card's website.
It's nothing to do with Mastercard.0 -
Here's all of MBNA's cards:
https://www.mbna.co.uk/compare-credit-cards/
And they also own NUBA. It's really not that difficult to see who owns what card, most of the details are usually at the bottom of the page of each lender.
If you took out the NUBA card, they also offer money transfers so that could have been an option.
What card did you take out?I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I think also before you click on proceed with application you have to tick the agreement box which should say mbna bank as thats who it is with0

If you want to keep away from MBNA then either do your homework first, MBNA are probably the biggest issuer of "white label" cards out there, or only apply from a mainstream bank as they will issue their own. The T&Cs will show who the issuing bank is, Mastercard and Visa are purely the issuing network.0

It says issued by Mastercard.............
You're looking for something like this.
The credit cards are issued by MBNA Limited. Registered Office: Stansfield House, Chester Business Park, Chester CH4 9QQ. Registered in England and Wales under company number 02783251. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. MBNA Limited is also authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Services Regulations 2009, Register Number: 204487 for the provision of payment services.0 -
It says issued by Mastercard.............
The card does not need to be a mastercard; it can be mastercard or visa.
Barclaycards are issued by Barclays.
Lloyds cards are issued by Lloyds.
Natwest cards are issued by Natwest.
Vanquis cards are issued by Vanquis.
Etc.
Is that so difficuklt .....0 -
