You are mistaken.
You won't be asked if you are disabled when applying for motor insurance.ThinkingOutLoud wrote: »You are wrong.
Worth a read if you don't get why insurers won't and / or stay away from trying to discriminate:-

What they can and may do is charge more if you have expensive adaptions that would cost more to repair or add to the cost of a hire car during repairs. That is covered when asking if you have adapted or modified you car - it is not about the disability!
This does not tally with my father's experience, who has a disability and has to declare it.
The articles quoted states that insurance companies cannot discriminate against people with a disability - which is fair enough. They do not state whether the disability must be declared.
At the end of the day underwriting is the acceptance of risk for a premium. The underwriter has to have full disclosure in order to assess the risk. So on what basis would you have a disability and no have to declare it when it makes a material difference to the risk?
I have a good relationship with our brokers at work and they will be in next week to sort out next years insurances. I'll throw the question at him and report back with his response.0 -
Maybe your father has some condition that has to be disclosed to DVLA??
But as you have been told, you don't need to disclose disability, (but you do have to disclose modifications to the car if they were needed)0 -

I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0
