Is your mother claiming her state or private pension?
If so she is likely to be retired rather than unemployed0 -

Ouch, that's a big jump in price. I'm guessing that's why they cancelled it as they thought you were trying to pull a fast one (I'm not accusing you of that BTW).
You're going to have to ask them nicely to remove it for you.0 -
It doesn't sound like its a full on cancelled. It sounds like an Insurance Act Rescinded.
As in "The misrepresentation wasn't deliberate, the risk is still acceptable to us for AP. Customer refused. Lets act as if the contract was in place"
Technically everyone who has insured through a broker changed vehicle and that new vehicle is unacceptable to their current insurer so policy cancelled and a new one taken out.
But hey seems the armchairs know more than those whose have their Cert CII etc.0 -
In the process of claiming ESA but whats the cource of her current income?

If the OP's mum should also have declared her disability and didn't then this is likely to be the bigger issue. Insurance companies don't take kindly to the miss-declarations of this nature. Often, the difference in premium is considerable and they will assume that the omission was deliberate in order to reduce the insurance premium. It also leads them to have concerns over that other information may have been incorrectly declared.0

I think you are wrong, I don't think she was asked about her disability.
If her insurer was to take her disability into account, the insurer would have to fully understand her specific and personal conditions and then justify their rating change accordingly / statistically.
Which insurers do you know of that underwrite car insurance in that way for disabled people?
(This is not the same as answering if the car is modified because of a disability, which is not the issue here)I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0 -

You would have to declare a disability when arranging motor insurance. There is no way the underwriter would not ask the question.0 -

Worth a read if you don't get why insurers won't and / or stay away from trying to discriminate:-

What they can and may do is charge more if you have expensive adaptions that would cost more to repair or add to the cost of a hire car during repairs. That is covered when asking if you have adapted or modified you car - it is not about the disability!I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
