my super cheap collective switch tariff with british gas is due to end. I plan to stay with them, going onto their capped tariff. I could switch direct but the tariff is on the cheap energy club and is eligble for the 30 cashback. Could I do that seeing as I am staying with British Gas though?

If, having ensured you entered the correct details into the CEC (in particular, those details relating to your current supplier & tariff) you are able to (and indeed do) make the application through the CEC, then you would be eligible for the cashback.
