No it isn't. You fail to understand the difference between rendering a service (or goods) with subsequent invoicing, and lending money. The two processes have similarities, but they are fundamentally different.

In both cases - money lent, and services rendered in advance of payment - there is a state at which money is owed to the business and a chance where this money can be unpaid. This is why the likes of Virgin Media, water and mobile phone companies also report to CRAs. That's proportionate. With basic bank accounts also there is a chance - however slim - that the account can be misused in such a way that it gets left with a debit balance. This also is proportionate, and I don't know why you have such a bee in your bonnet about it.

The whole point of a CRA is so that potential lenders and people looking to do business with someone can assess whether someone is going to pay them or not. A bank account, of any kind, which could conceivably go overdrawn, has every reason to be assessed as part of this.

Again I'm not sure why you're on this peculiar hobby horse but I can assure you that nobody else especially cares. In fact, quite a few people were fighting for banks to start reporting BBAs to the credit agencies for the precise reason that a little row of green ticks is a positive for them.

They provide a Visa Debit card, Sort Code and acc number.
    £4.95 monthly.
It doesn't support Direct Debit or standing order btw.

Thanks for the suggestion. Although I would prefer a high street banks rather than a provider I've never heard of, and I'm not keen on paying fees either. Rightly or wrongly I expect free banking these days as per major banks. What I'm looking for probably doesn't exist at the banks unfortunately.

Did you look at sbiuk saving account with linked visa debit. You will have to check but because it's a 'savings' account there might not be a credit check. It has a sort code/account no like any bank and you can pay money it or transfer it out to a linked account. One of the few (only?) 'savings' accounts that has a visa card.

Would it not be easiest to just stop any betting activity for a few months prior to your mortgage application?

Maybe, but when building up my deposit is getting significant help from this income stream then financially speaking it doesn't make sense to stop. Stopping the activity for 3 months (minimum - it could be 6) could be worth an additional £2k deposit or paying for all my fees.

I think you are overoptimistic about the MB long-term stream of income.
