PayPal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had cause to call PayPal with a problem and was relieved when an English voice, well Newcastle, came on the line.

I had made a purchase on ebay and when I received my payment confirmation it showed that it was a ''payment after delivery'' transaction. As a seller, in a small way, I am not in favour of this option and do not have it applied to my account so there had been an error.

I explained the problem to the young lady and to my surprise she told me that I must have added the option to the purchase. I asked her to check my account where it clearly shows that I do not have this option.

She then told me someone must have accessed my account and changed it and then changed it back!! I could not believe what I was hearing, I checked the calendar to see if it was April 1st, it was not. I asked if she was serious to which she replied and asked if I had it applied on one of my 'other' accounts. I told her that I only had one account.

I was now sitting here with steam coming out of my ears wanting to strangle her!!!! Foolish me I expected PP to check my account, confirm that it was an error and wait for it....apologise. Never in a million years.

I asked to speak to her manager, five minutes later he came on the line. Keeping calm I explained the problem and he came back virtually word for word what the young girl had said. After trying, without any success to show him that I had not added this option to the transaction I felt myself getting angry, I felt like I was being taken for an idiot. I probably was for arguing with him.

I asked that my complaint be escalated and he referred me to the web site so I finished the call. On following his instructions going to the help and contact section I found myself going round in circles yet again.

If anyone has an address, email or post, of a UK PayPal office I would appreciate it.

I will never complain about the overseas customer service again as the option is worse.......

    All you have to do is log into your Paypal account, click on the transaction and towards the bottom of the page is a "pay now" button. Click on that.

    Job done.

    I bought something by auction at 6 oclock yesterday. As I was cooking I paid about 1/2 an hour later. I received an email telling me I had chosen to pay later, I hadn't but wasn't really concentrating when paying. I don't remember choosing this option. The email contained a link for me to pay now.

    Receipt for your purchase — your payment has been scheduled

    You purchased an item from for £3.00 GBP and chose to pay after delivery. It may take a few moments for this transaction to appear in your PayPal account.What happens next?

    • We'll request the money from your bank account on 6 Feb 2017, 14 days after your purchase (most items are received within this timeframe).
    • We'll send you a reminder email before we debit the money. It will then take 3 working days for the payment to be debited from your bank account.
    • If the item doesn't arrive or it's significantly not as described, you've got 180 days from the date you placed the order to report a problem. See Buyer Protection details.
    • Alternatively, if you don't want to pay after delivery, you can pay for your purchase now by logging in to your PayPal account and viewing the transaction details.

    I suggest you to lodge a complaint first from PP's Contact section (there is a Complaint choice) and if not satisfied, escalate to above email address using the reference you get from the initial complaint. Good luck.

    As a seller it makes no difference, PayPal pay the seller as normal and then debit the buyers account 14 days later. PayPal has taken to defaulting to this option as it gives you (buyer) 14 days interest free. If you don't want 14 days interest free then go into your account and turn it off.

    @jon81uk,

    Thanks for your post, as you will have seen I had not opted for Payment After Delivery, this is the basis of my call/complaint to PP. That is, after being treated like a moron!!!!!

    @Norman Castle,

    Snap! You are in the same position as myself, oddly around the same time. Do I detect a techy problem?

    @qsk,

    Thank you for the email address, much appreciated.

    @qsk,

    I sent a complaint email to the address that you posted and received a phone call two hours later from the CEO's office.

    They had looked into my complaint, listening to the phone conversations with Customer Service and I received an explanation, an apology and compensation. I owe you a drink!

    Many thanks for the info.
