Just picked this up and it surprising the number of people that don't have a clue about how to do equitable shares.

if the net contribution to the mortgage was around £150pm on a mortgage of £500 thats 30%

So the equity owned by debt servicing is around 30% of the mortgage equity.

    eq. plug in real numbers.

house worth say £150k with a £100k mortgage own around £30ks worth 20%

house goes up £10k now own £32k less 30% of what is owed on the mortgage.

    guess a mortgage
    £100k mortgage 4% paying £500pm(around 28years) in 8 years owe £81180 30% is £24354.

    owed £7646.

The kick her out and give her nothing staggers me quite frankly.

As for carrying her, some people pay zero towards bills or mortgage. For example if people have made the decision that one person works and the other doesn't. Carrying her would have been if she paid zero.

If the Op wanted a bigger contribution over the years he could have asked for it

Probably a good middle figure. How was it reached? Did you just suggest it or there was negotiation?
    Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
    Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)
