No she hasn't gone she's staying in the spare room till she gets somewhere else, I couldn't make her homeless, and to be honest we still get on OK. The only concern I have is that if she ain't happy with what she gets and it goes to court and you hear about how these women get half the house and stuff like that
If you both get on ok then why not just stay as housemates?0 -
She wants somewhere on her own and I don't really want a lodger anyway0
-
Did it include food? I'd probably offer her a few thousands and point out that she would spent more on solicitors and if the court sees she rejected a very reasonable offer it may take a dim view of her.
Boliston- because they do not want to live in a houseshare? Most people do not. Let alone with exes. What a silly question. The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
No, it didn't include food0

Council tax, gas/electric, water, phone/sky/broadband.0

So mortgage + bills - food = £800
Half would be £400, she was paying you more than that, therefore she was contributing to the mortgage and to the asset.
It might be sensible for both of you to get legal advice.0 -
Mortgage £500, the rest £300
So she has been paying £400 a month?
Is it a repayment mortgage?
As she can now prove she has been paying half the mortgage, she is highly likely to have a claim in the house. This could be as much as half the equity increase since she moved in!!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
If she was paying £70 a week, she was covering the bills herself entirely. Really she should have been paying only half of this and you should have been covering the mortgage entirely yourself.
I don’t know if she was paying £70 for the entire 8 years, or indeed if the bills were a lot less earlier on, but if she has been paying £35 a week towards your mortgage for 8 years and that’s nearly 15k so I’m not surprised she wants something back.0 -
