I've not been but apparently the weather there is more predictable year round. Not sure of the prices in August but have you considered Sri Lanka? I believe the weather is good in August. Take a look on Hayes and Jarvis. All inclusive hotels with good reviews for 850.
The easiest way of explaining the way the weather works in Sri Lanka is by dividing the country into several regions – the southwest, northeast, central and hill country. From April to September the southwest of the island is affected by monsoon weather, however this does not mean constant rainfall but rather bursts of intermittent showers at intervals throughout the day, which quickly clear away to blue skies. The northeast likewise experiences monsoon weather, but from November to March instead – so if you get your timing right you are bound to find beach weather and sunshine on one side of the island. There is also an inter-monsoonal period between October and November when rain and thunderstorms can be seen across the country.
We went a few years ago now and stayed at The Lighthouse in Gall in December. Every afternoon around 3pm the heavens opened but up until 3 it was wall to wall sunshine. We toured from Columbo down through central Sei Lanka and didn't see rain until we got to Gall though.
Amazing country and fabulous friendly people and I would heartily recommend it to anyone.0 -
I know this isn't specifically money saving. But you might want to look into which countries have more/less Zika virus outbreaks. I don't know exactly how important all that is to you but I know at least
some of those countries in that area are having problems.0 -
i was In the Dominican Republic last September when the hurricane affected the south of the island.
The North Coast is less prone but not guaranteed, the mountains protect but we did get rain for a few days.
I would say it wasnt any hotter or humid than when we go there in January and February.
It is a lot different to holidays in Europe though,
are you looking at the Riu hotels Puerta Plata for the £950 price range?0
