Morning, £5 to cc1
@Keedie it is a nightmare when you end up being beset with physical and mental health issues for sure. Your freelancing sounds very good...are you enjoying the work? I take in lodgers as well as working and the extra money is a huge help. I chuck as much as I can at my mortgage as my first priority and just dawdle along with the cc's. You've paid off a huge amount of debt already, well done and you should be very proud of what you are managing given your circumstances, Indi x2 -
Thanks Indi, your kind words and encouragement really means a lot to me. Life is really hard, but once the debts are gone, then I can relax a bit more and be in a position to help my son if he decides to go to uni in a couple of years, and just know what it's like to be debt free. I've had debt of some kind since I was 19 at uni.
Having lodgers sounds like a good way to keep costs down and it's great that it allows you to significantly overpay on your mortgage. As you're tackling your biggest asset/liability, once that's cleared you'll feel so free. I remember when my mum cleared her mortgage, she had a little celebration party (and frugally had her siblings all bring a dish and shake a leg) 😁. I've accepted that I'll never be a homeowner, I just can't get a mortgage as a single person on a part time wage in London, but once I start to build savings, I'm aiming to be able to help my son with a deposit as I know that he definitely wants to buy somewhere when he's older (although at 15 he's incredibly delusional about these swanky apartments by the River Thames, some costing nearly £1m that he seems to think he can afford to buy straight after uni 😂).
I work part time in HR and freelance in HR for my brother in law's company (I am his whole entire HR department and I do anything and everything) and I'm slowly distance learning courses to become a certified proofreader and for copywriting. So that I can widen the range of services that I offer and because I actually don't even like working in HR, I've just stuck with it as it pays the bills and I know what I'm doing, but I definitely want to be more creative. Life's so short, we might as well have something in our life that brings us a slice of creative happiness.Debt Free Diary:- The Mental Debt Struggle

Afternoon, £10 to cc1 for me, thanks, Indi x
@Keedie your wee mum had the right idea celebrating her win on paying the mortgage and doing it frugally too, go her. It will be a huge sigh of relief for all of us when we clear our feet. Your son has set his sights on what he would like to achieve, which is great. You are right about slices of creative happiness in life. Well done on your distance learning; you are chipping away at everything and becoming ever closer to your goals. Excellent news all round and your brother-in-law is lucky to have you working for him. Hi @IndiJonesi, that's such kind words and really encouraging, so thank you 🤗. I should be debt free within 2 years fingers crossed, so hopefully it'll all come together. Just keep going with your goals, it'll happen before you know it and that will be such a great feeling. xx
