I've not been on here for a while as things have been pretty dire and I have basically been sitting with my head in my hands wondering what on earth to do
My total debt is £11,800 approx (cc's and a loan) and as I have slipped behind on payments am finding it hard to keep up and everything is spiralling out of control - very scary times!!
I went on the Stepchange website and filled out a budgeting form with them - they advised me to set up DMP and I have just sat and handwritten (can't afford printer ink!) 6 letters to my creditors offering them a proportionate monthly amount from my available funds (eek) - some get £1.60 up to some getting £20.80.I have paid them all their amount online today making my PAD £52.00
I have not included Next and Littlewoods when writing these letters (now I know a lot of people are going to say this is wrong) beacuse the payments to them are manageable and I really need to keep my accounts open for emergencies - I only ever use them for school shoes/coats, christmas and if I need to replace something like washing machine/fridge etc.
Will post my letters off tomorrow and hope for the best.... I AM VERY SCARED.
If anyone has any advice of any type I welcome it!!! xx
Great advice has already been given by people more recently experienced than me but you've had your light bulb moment and that's the important bit. The details will get sorted!
I've been overspending for weeks so am trying my good ole cheap treat trick (only last time it was a budget of £1 per day per treat - this time it's £2 x2 a week) and a list of treats noted down. Helps the hamster wheel of fixated needing to spend that's for sure!
I still have (and it's thriving) my 18p/19p (can't recall) cheap treat of an unhappy basil plant from the summer. Boy I love that plant!!!
Remember the mantra folks - it's not going down (or not having your lightbulb moment) that's the crime but staying down (having your head in the sand till you die) that's the crime
Hugs
