Seems like restricting new registrations to non free accounts is completely against an MSE ethos though !
Just tighten up on moderation-nip the trolls in the bud.
Having moderated elsewhere in the past I've found if the trolls get no-where fast they move on to another site. Also regulars are a lot less likely to bite back if they are confident that troll posts WILL be removed promptly.
I guess I'm saying more moderators (and yes I do appreciate it's a task to find good ones and a bad one can be a right liability) is the answer.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

It's a fair point, I suppose. I am assuming everyone has an ISP who always provide an 'ISP address', which is what I'm referring to, although personally I don't use mine.
But on reflection, some people do use MSE on friends' computers, libraries and so on - so granted it's not very MSE.
I actually got the idea from Digital Spy forums, which don't allow registration from 'free' accounts, presumably to stop multiple registrations.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I'd never dare start a thread, but if you voted for people having a certain amount of posts, would it be restricted to this section of the site only?
The reason I ask is because although being new, I've read the site occasionally and certain posters get into a panic over certain issues, like debt etc, forget to Google, and need a quick reply. It would be a shame if they couldn't open a thread wouldn't it?Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -

and I have to agree, 'free' accounts can be the gateway to trolls and abusers.
