OP, for info, I went from a knackered 11 year old Rover to a fairly smart 5 year old fiesta in 2015, and my insurance went down by 40%. Go figure.0

I suspect the insurance will stay at an unreasonable level until I build up some no claims.

To add my son to my Golf was £4500. On a Passat with bigger, more powerful engine it was £2000. Still insane but understandable for a 17 year oldYou are better buying something a little larger and less appealing to get cheaper insurance.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
