Can I claim compensation for Asian flight?

We were in Hong Kong for a holiday and planned to stop-over in Thailand before returning to the UK. Unfortunately the flight from Hong Kong to Thailand was cancelled and rescheduled and it meant that our accommodation was not booked long enough for Hong Kong and we lost a day in Thailand. We also had other things booked in Thailand and we lost money because of this.
Would we be entitled to any compensation?

Not under EI261. You could check your travel insurance and see what it may offer0
