Faulty Laptop

I bought a new laptop in Sept 2016 from a UK retailer - now the battery is not working and can only use the laptop from the mains. The retailer told me to contact the manufacturer, the manufacturer said it could be a faulty battery or a BIOS problem or some other problem which has caused the battery to stop functioning and offered a download to try, this did nothing. I got back in touch with the retailer who now tell me I have to send the laptop to the manufacturer to be repaired and this could take up to 2 weeks. I think 2 weeks without my laptop which I need for work is a long time to wait. Any suggestions?

Up to 2 weeks sounds reasonable.

How on earth do you fit a laptop in a card reader - and what's its credit limit like?
Also, is this the same aptop you already have a thread going about, or have you bought anther with unfortunate battery issues and think its a credit card?0 -
you are so lucky that the company is asking for a two week window, my chromebook has been sent to toshiba and they said there is a 4 month wait.
go to costco, get a new laptop and return it once u got urs back0 -
If it is within 6 months of purchase you are within your rights to ask for a refund and get one. over that and the onus is on you to prove that the product was inherently faulty.
That said.. the responsibility is with the retailer to get the product repaired not the manufacturer. Usually telling the retailer this and telling them to organise everything with the manufacturer is enough fo them not to be bothered and just give you a replacement.
Hope that helps0 -
Hate to say but the need for work wont wash as an excuse, as its not ment form business use. Also you may find battery's are excluded from warrantysDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I wrote to the supplier last Sunday and asked them to arrange to collect the laptop and they can then decide either repair, replace or refund. I also asked them to tell me how long this process will take and have given them 10 days to reply. No response as yet.0

Pick up the phone and ring them, stop making things difficult for yourself?0
