Hello all,
Less manic day today, been to Pilates this morning and decided that I am going to invest in myself and go twice a week until I get called for my hip replacement. Someone who has had it told me to do as much pilates and other exercises as possible and to get as fit as I can, as it will make life after the op a lot easier. So I won't be scrimping in that department.
Then to the launderette to wash the quilt that is going to DS. The Gumtree person replied to my email saying that they had had an emergency and that's why they did not get in touch before, but they were ok. Really, I should have offered it to DS first anyway so I am ok with it.
Did a bit of shopping in Marks as I had the £20 win, spent £31 something but with voucher and a couple of special offers I got it down to £9 something. Also bought a large bag of dried figs at the Turkish greengrocer so my total spend for grocery today was around £15. It should see me through the next week or so.
Filled up the car, my goodness, Diesel is up at £1.20 per litre! It was 98p just before Christmas, what's going on? Anyway, I usually have a target of max. £1 per litre using vouchers and discounts etc, but this time it was a bit more, as I spent £43 for 35 litres, but with nectar points I got it down to £38, which is £1.09 per litre. I can live with it.
Taking advantage of the glorious sunshine, off for a walk in the park. The cleaner is coming for a quick clean later on so I got to be quick. And I have yoga at 7:30pm, my old free community class that's restarting today.
Dinner is going to be same like last night, leftover lentil casserole, with some grain or the other, plus some cooked greens.
Thinking of all of you who have heartache or sadness, sending well wishes to the poorlies and hugs to those who need them.
Have a good evening. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Afternoon everyone, its lovely and sunny but feels cold ,our thermometer says 5 deg,but after a week of grey low cloudy drizzle its quite uplifting:D
Hugs to Lainey.I'm glad you've got support while you are doing Mums house. When we did Mum & Dads my 2 brothers had time off and we got stuck in,it is a sad horrible job but then we had lighter moments when 1 of us found something that triggered a childhood memory,or made us smile xx
I've been in town shopping, wanted M@rks meal deal,I get 2 so it feeds the 4 adults and bolsters the wine stock! Also got some reduced meat from there so after getting rid of all the packaging, managed to squeeze it into the freezer. I was quite pleased with my haul at the hospice shop as there was quite a bit of craft stuff like double sided tape and pads, outline stickers and a brand new wool bag.I have a few 'special' birthday cards coming up to make so it was very handy. I put a bit extra in the change tin I was so pleased.
Tru,that could be me on dogwalks! Mainly due to the (great)size of her I don't like passing other dogs on the pavement and nearly always cross the road ,( mind you some people cross the road anyway when they see us coming
) & the other steps you take I do too.Ly1a is very wary of small dogs now after being bitten at least 3 times. She is always on the lead and they weren't
Monnagran, nice to hear of the new puppy.Where we lived before there was a family that rescued them and they had 4 dalmations! Have fun with the training,we went to a puppy class. Keep posting anyway, didnt you used to on the daily? I thought you did.We love a good doggy tale on here
Right off to dye my hair,I've got time as I can use the mealdeal for tea and jiggle my meal plan round,no grandchildren until tomorrow.
Take care everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Hello all,
Just on quickly at work as I'm virtually the only one in the office today. I will be leaving at 4pm yippee! Don't feel as though I've had any time this week. Tuesday and Thursday I was on a course at the rugby club and Wednesday running youth club. Tonight DH and I will be joining friends for a quiz night at the rugby club, so if I can get away early, I have a chance to see the children at least for a little while!!
Lainey - hugs to you. I will be helping my DSis to sort out nephew's effects which are currently in her spare room after clearing his flat. It is not going to be easy and I'm not looking forward to it, but she will appreciate the help.
Judi - I would definitely be encouraging DH to visit the GP - good luck with that - I know most men are GP phobic!
monnagran - how lovely to hear of your puppy - I can just see it bounding along!
Have a good evening all,

It's a shame you're not near me - I'd invite you to come for a walk with us the next time Jack stays; he's a BIG English Springer Spaniel, and he's the calmest, gentlest, most laid-back dog you could wish to meet! I can do absolutely anything with him - brush him, check his ears, wipe his eyes (he gets the Spaniel tear-duct thing where they get the fur under their eyes all matted if it's not kept cleaned) and even brush his teeth!I agree with Elona, it is people like LW, who genuinely love dogs and their dog in particular, who respect dogs and people in equal measure. I am also nervous of dogs and when I meet someone who has their dog under control I love it, because it means I can have some sort of interaction with a dog that I know I can trust (because I can trust their owner).
Too many people use their dogs as weapons, even just as threat, this happens a lot in London and it is very scary. But I would love to have a better relationship with dogs, they are so lovely and beautiful, it is because of irresponsible owners that I am nervous!
Want piccies!Tru and LW. I'm with you on the subject of dogs, We have just acquired a 13 week old Dalmatian puppy, name of Dora.
Where Mr LW and I used to drink (I can't get into that pub now, on account of the steps up to the door) there was a Labrador used to visit, named Dora - usually known as Dora the Explorer. Same pub, different dog owner - Dalmation named George - he got his name because as a puppy, on being picked up to take home, the very first thing his owner had to say to him was " Don't do that!"

My sympathy to all you suffering with one thing or another at present. Life is no easy ride, that's for sure..well at least mine never has been.
Paid stuff done and I've just hoovered and mopped the floors. Waiting for them to dry then I just need to dust, then it's shower and PJ time.
No idea what's for dinner. I have leftover HM Fish Pie from last night but really don't fancy that. I am craving cheese but may just end up with a frozen pizza.
Have a good evening all.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Afternoon everyone.
Not had much time to post. Been travelling up & down up north to try & sort out ds2. Unfortunately he has been excluded from college, he is appealing the decision but we are having trouble finding out what the next step is, if the decision can't be overturned. He made a mistake & broke a college rule, he had never been in trouble before that at the college. Have been trying to get advice but as he is post 16 seems that he doesn't come under the local education authority in relation to education.
Os today kitchen cleaned, shower room done all floors hoovered downstairs. Changed guest bed too.
Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care.0 -
Oh LW that sounds so lovely, indeed what a pity I am not nearer, I would have loved coming along! Thank you for the offer anyway.
In the end my cleaner is not coming until next week, which is fine. She wanted to change the time to evening but I just could not have anyone in the evening hoovering and being in the way when I prepare dinner etc.
Also I was going to yoga but not sure I will now, after a long (for me) walk to the park and back, just could not resist the lovely sunshine.
Have a good evening. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina, the fuel price increase is probably down to a little thing called Brexit. Watch for an awful lot of things going up in price in the next few months. DS who works for a major food retailer says that the supermarkets are all watching each other like hawks because none of them want to be the first to increase prices but as soon as they do (it's inevitable i'm afraid they can't go on absorbing increased costs forever) the floodgates will be opened.
I forgot to post my happy thing this morning so I shall post today's now instead. We had a wonderful walk from Grassington to Hebden and a glorious sunset. The only downside was that the lovely tearoom in Hebden was closed.0 -
Ah bummer. Brexit an' all that...
On a happier note, snoozer, I so want to visit Hebden, the only time I was there was the day that Princess Diana died so a lot of shops were closed as a sign of respect. I have wanted to go back there ever since! Perhaps this is going to be a trip in the spring. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Just off to the charity quiz in Dartford shortly I have made a flask of coffee up (its in a blooming cold building I have been before ) and have a lock'n'lock box of assorted biscuits from a Christmas box of assorted biscuits I was given. That will do as a snack,I am no a lover of crisps so never buy them As the quiz is for a good cancer charity i would rather put an extra couple of quid in the charity box than waste it on processed snacks

Its going to be a chilly night so I am making sure I am wrapped up well before I go as well.
Have a good evening chums
JackieO xx0
