• Good morning one and all and happy Friday to you.

Cool and calm here this morning. Filled with a strange sense of motivation for work, I'll blame the coffee.

Yesterday I had a lovely dinner at my grans then headed home to prepare for today. Was in bed for 9 and read a book until 9.45ish. Alarm going off at 5.30am was not welcomed though and slept in a few minutes.

Been to the gym and now sitting at work with another coffee in hand. My mates are trying to organise something tonight but I could do without the spend so I think I'll turn up later once they've had a takeaway.

camelot - Safe journey
Judi - Sorry to hear that yesterday was a difficult day. Although your story of your son-in-law did make me chuckle.
Lainey - Hope today goes as well as can for you and family.

LameWolf I hate the phone too, I'm not phobic though so can only imagine what it's like for you. If I don't recognise the number, it doesn't get answered – I'll only speak to people I know.

He's spotted you before you've seen us and at the very least, we've crossed the road. No recycling collected yesterday so I assume it's being done today. Nearly everyone had put their bins out by 9am, I hope they didn't copy me because they'll be moaning about me getting it wrong :D

I've been flinging bits of paper about. I started sorting, managed to take over the whole kitchen then slowly everything got sorted into date order. I paperclipped everything by month then put those in order and ended up with two piles, ins and outs. These were put into a three shelf paper tray, with ongoing things on the top shelf, and I'm now completely organised. I have to put the info onto spreadsheets but I don't want to disturb it, it looks so neat and tidy :D

Need to sweep and vacuum this morning, there are bits everywhere. Not sure where it all comes from in just one day. First though, a hot shower then a walk in the frost.

• Morning all and happy Friday from a very frosty looking MK. The sun has come out though so looking more promising.
Yesterday we managed a 2hr walk in the local woods and racked up over 6000 steps.

Today I need a few things at the shops and then need to make the macaroons for a trifle and then probably put the trifle together. It's for a get together tomorrow evening and I usually find it works better if made the day before. DH has asked if we can have spag bol for dinner tonight so need to buy the mince for that. Wine has just gone in the fridge!

I think we'll watch the Inauguration this afternoon just out of interest. I don't remember seeing it with former Presidents and I expect it will be a lot of speeches and hot air but interesting all the same.

Have a good day everyone x

Good Morning chums ,Brrr its a cold one this morning The sun is up at least and its dry but white frost everywhere. History this afternoon all about the first Prime Minister which should be interesting. Then tonight I am off to Dartford for a charity quiz night .At least it will get me away from all the hoo hah about Trumps inauguration. As its the US and I am british I'm not that interested in all the hullabaloo.Bit of overkill on TV I think.Don't suppose the US get their knickers in much of a twist over our politicians when they get into power. From what I have seen of him he doesn't seem to be that bright or inspiring and he has some very odd ideas altogether Definitely not my cup of tea ,but then he isn't ruling my country. My DGS who is imminently about to move to the US in the next month or so to work thinks he may last a year before being impeached !!!

Right time for some coffee and porridge I think to warm my innards up, then I am going to make some leek and potato soup for the weekend.
<<hugs to Lainey and all those in need >> I hope you all have a good friday what ever you are doing

Cheers chums

• Morning (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need one.

Well done Lainey, I know how difficult it is to clear a relatives home, and being your mum it will have been especially hard. Just think how much will be going to the charity to carry on their work..........

It's a very bright sunny morning, but the frost is holding. The chap came last night and put the day bed up, it's now made up with bed linen. I offered him his petrol money but he would not accept it. One really weird thing the chaps surname was quilter! He was working in my sewing room with all the signs of quilting around him.

Friday clean to do, I only put the dyson over the carpet last week, the dust might not be too bed, the fire has only been lit a couple of days this week.

Still in bed, time to get up and start the day.

Morning everyone.
Oh what a beautiful morning ! After a week of damp, dank and dreary weather it is sunny, sunny, sunny!
Bed stripped, washed and on the whirly, may have to finish it off indoors later. DH in the shed playing with some wood so I am having a quick coffee before I remake the bed and clean through upstairs. Haven't felt like doing much this week due to the weather - I suffer from S.A.D. but today I feel great. Tea today is a homemade chicken curry and pilau rice taken out of the freezer.
Sending love and hugs to Lainey and good vibrations to all

Tru and LW. I'm with you on the subject of dogs, We have just acquired a 13 week old Dalmatian puppy, name of Dora.

At the moment, talking her for a walk is more akin to flying a kite, she spends so much time in mid-air. Of course, every person she meets she regards as a friend and every other dog as a potential playmate. It is our job to teach her that it ain't necessarily so, hopefully without squashing her innate friendliness.

It's the same with dogs as with children, politeness demands that the other person's wishes should be first recognised and second, respected. There is to be a decent period of reflection and consideration before leaping up and licking someone to death. Well, in the case of dogs certainly, I've never actually had a child do that.
Training continues with varying degrees of success. You would be advised to give the Isle of Wight a wide berth for a while.

JackieO. I knew we had a mysterious connection. I've just finished making leek and potato soup and the cheese scones to go with them are in the oven as we speak.

Sorry to butt into your thread folk. I'll go back from whence I came.

• Hello again folks. The sun is shining and the garden thermometer is showing 10 deg! Wow almost summer!

Whizzed the duster and vac round after the DGDs had been shipped to school. Kitchen floor steamed. The bathroom is still to clean but that can wait till after lunch. I have collapsed!

Mr TA has just left to pick middle DGD up from school as she has a panto performance this afternoon and has to be at the chaperones for 12.15. Quick change in the car and lunch to eat on the way! Cheese and bacon pasta as requested. I left it to the last minute to pack in a tub so hope it keeps warm. She is also doing the evening performance too so needed a packed tea to take too. Some days I feel I am running a cafe!

Some pasta keeping warm for Mr TA when he gets back. I have a fancy for a bacon sandwich and some soup. Lot of mash and sausage left over from last night so that will do us at teatime. I just need to do a few veg to go with it as no leftovers which surprised me!

I got a big stock of celery thanks to Aldi's Super Six offer this week. So that is earmarked for a stock pot of soup at some point today or tomorrow.

Have a nice remainder of the day folks. JUDI your DH's symptoms sound rather worrying I too would want him to visit his GP. Take care all whatever you are up to. xx

Welcome Monogram, dip in and out as you please. :)

My dogs dont get excited when we go for walks. Well Blackun appreciates every lamp post, every blade of grass, every crack in the road but nothing else, she shows her appreciation by dumping every few feet. Ginge i have to drag as she doesnt like walkies.

Beautiful sunshine here, much like a spring day. Still pretty cold though. Ive given the house a blast of fresh air by opening all the windows. Its a bit early for spring but i'm not complaining.

Not sure what today will bring but i've had my bath, prepared the tea (salmon and cheese sauce and something green and healthy) and am ready for what today will bring.

The good thing about worrying about something, it knocks the rest of the things i have to worry about, out of my head temporarily. Only one worry at a time.... theres always a positive in a negative.
