O/S Daily Friday 20 January 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s ok" is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, but cold and frosty.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going to work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was chicken in country french sauce, mash, carrots, peas, LO cauli/broc cheese, yorkshires - clean plates all round. Tonight will be jacket potato and salad for me, egg on toast for DH and something and chips for the boys, DH and I are going out tonight.
Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I'm happy with how much I got done, although I could have achieved more, I did do the washing and drying, there's an ironing pile to tackle, but I also got housework done and some household admin type things done, also visited building society and bank, wrote menu and shopping list for today, and just generally feel more on top of things than I have of late, so today I will be - food shopping first thing, continuing with any washing from the dirty wash basket, stripping and remaking our bed, bed linen to be washed, doing some baking/cooking if times allows, and I have a couple of hot spots that need tackling, if I can get all this done I'd be chuffed, but I need to remember we're going out tonight and need to be ready. DH has said he's working tomorrow morning, so I could utilize some of that time if needed.
Keep safe and well x

Forgot to add that I visited the butchers and bought some diced beef, sliced kidney, large tray of chicken breasts and some pork loin steaks, all now have been bagged up and are in the freezer, so have adjusted my GC total and am still happy with where i'm at.

Good Morning nmlc and all who follow.
Awake at 3am this morning so I'm shattered and have little to report other than that.
Back later, I hope, when more inspired.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning all and thanks NMLC. Just a flying visit from me but will pop back later
One DGD up and watching Doc McStuffins beside me. The other two will be to waken up shortly, then let the fun begin!! It'll be the usual chaos and manic rush to get them out of the door for the school run. The house will be like a bomb site and I shall be exhausted. I'm getting too old for this!
Have a good day all and see you later, Hugs to all in need. Thinking of LAINEY undergoing such sad times xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
The weather looks fine again, it has been dry but overcast for the past few days. Hoping it stays good as I'm driving up to Strathpeffer after work (should take about 4 1/2 hours) to see friends. Mrs friend had a knee replacement between Christmas and New Year and Mr friend can't/wont cook.
I've made a lasagne, curry and the innards of fajitas which are all in a cool bag ready to take up along with all the bits and pieces that go with them. Looking forward to seeing them and doing lots of walking with their mad dog - one of the few places I switch off completely as there's no phone signal!
Hugs to all those in need, have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all. Slightly later this morning. PT at 0730 not class at 0645:D
Then I'm helping a friend move house. I have a couple of errands to run in town and then some paid wfh to do.

Morning all.
Frosty here again today, I'm at work and made myself a coffee, the only one of the day.
Dgd will stay tonight, we'll collect her from school.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone.
No idea what's happening outside yet. There's plenty of time for that.
Today I'm going back down to Glasgow for a quick overnight visit to DM. She ventured outside yesterday for the first time since before Christmas and managed a stroll just in her street. Think she wanted to see the scaffolding from outside. Seems the entire building - eight flats - has now been wrapped all the way round by it.
Yesterday I made pea and mint soup and mince all of which are in the freezer
I hope everyone is doing well or getting better.
Happy Friday.0 -
Morning all,
Very cold here again, yesterday the frost did not go all day I think we are due more of that today !
Off to work for me today but at least its Friday :j I am very excited about not having to get up in the morning, I am not a natural early riser at all !
Meatballs and pasta for dinner tonight nice and easy, then it will be fire lit a film on and large glass of wine.
Hugs to Lainey, will your DB help with mums house?, hope it goes well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all.
That's it I swear I'm going to keep these dogs awake all day. Not so much Ginge but Blackun was tearing round the house at 3am. Not in pain but as bright as a button! Fortunately she didn't wake the men who were out for the count.
There are many things that set me and hubby off arguing and Prodigal Son is no exception. Prodigal Son turned up at 4 for his feed and was in no rush to leave. Ashamed to say it of my own Son but he makes me uncomfortable. So much hate and anger within him. I tried to talk to hubby about things he said and how he makes me feel but all I got was "I'll tell him to clear off then and not return". Not quite the response I wanted, I just wanted him to let me vent.
Talking about hubby, he got reported to the main contractor at work yesterday. Racist and abusive behaviour. He's not used to the toilet habits of the Eastern Europeans and is getting most vocal about it. He is becoming a problem at work. I tried to talk about it to him about it last night but he's having none of it. He needs to see a doctor too. How many people do you know that need a fan on in the bedroom overnight? No heating on in the house but he's having to lie on the bed naked cause he's too hot.
However, there was one bright spot that made me laugh. Son in law bounded into the house at 6 o'clock to pick up my Grandson. "where is he?" he asked. "At nursery I answered" It's Thursday not Wednesday". Never seen him run out the house so fast! He messaged me later to apologise and ask if I was ok. He'd never seen Prodigal Son before and he was a bit thrown by him.
More to add, probably later though. The dogs need their breakfast.
Onwards and forwards,
Have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning everyone,
Cold but bright and sunny here. Another rubbish nights sleep but nice to see the sun.
I did manage to sort out many of DM's clothes yesterday and they are bagged up ready to go to the CS. My DOH was in the background and supplied hugs when needed, my DB and SIL will come over on Sunday when we will go through as much as possible, decide what we want ourselves and start to sort the rest.
My other SIL came over in the evening for a chat and catch up, I had put some mince in the SC so we all had that with jacket pots.
This afternoon we have the meeting with the funeral director, DM was clear with her wishes so it should be relatively simple.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Hugs Lainey.
We got up to Yorkshire late last night. I'm just going to inventory the food in the freezer and cupboards, write a menu plan for the weekend and then pop into Skipton to pick up any bits we need and have a quick trawl round the charity shops.
We might be able to have a walk this afternoon but if not I brought some stuff with me to be able to make a bit more progress on my new quilt.
DiL has a meeting this morning with the head of a firm who want to recruit her. She's desperate to get out of the toxic atmosphere at her present job as is DS who can see that she is going under from the stress. He was in the same position 4 years ago and had several weeks off with stress so he doesn't want her to suffer in the same way.0
