Haggling with EE

Options
HI all, two years ago I tried haggling with retentions and got no better than a package they could offer to someone off the street.
I'm at the end of my current contract, and guess what? They won't even offer me a deal that I've seen on uswitch!
I can't take the new deal as you can't port from within.
Anyone got any tips?

Since OFCOM let the sale EE has no right to be expanding own network or offer the deals, they are meant to direct such towards BT clan and their customer base, hence only alternative would be "three", though they aren't as good.

Change networks? Do you have to stay with EE?

If you are steadfast is staying with them, and want to keep the number, an option would be to end your current deal and port the number to a PAYG sim, then port the number back from that network to the better EE deal. Of course, if you don't care about your number then you can skip the porting stage and just take the deal as a new customer.
  • Ditch them, deals come and go... Don't be fooled into taking a "cheap" phone plus network 24 month deal, rarely do networks offer a free phone, you will end up paying for it. Using your own phone and going SIM only gives much greater flexibility, especially if you opt for a 30 day rolling contract.

If you want to use your mobile while roaming overseas check out Three for their "Feel at home", which can save a fortune if you regularly travel abroad to one of their countries, although they aren't overall good value these days.

If you aren't wanting cheap roaming then look at Virgin. There are some good value deals on SIM only with Virgin at the moment (ends soon), all are 30 day and use the EE network.

In all cases check and double check the small print, for example tethering, cost limits by capping potential overspend, what happens when you use up all your minutes/data, use overseas, etc. If in doubt ask them via the on-line chat direct to the network.
  • Port out to Giffgaff/Virgin/Tesco or any other sim only provider then port back in to new deal is my recommendation

My tip is to leave and go with virgin mobile sim only (30 day contract)

    Uses EE network.

Get in before the end of Jan for Double data.

Either say with them if happy, or go back to EE in a couple of months time.
