I'd have a picture of GOATSE on my card if the deal was right!

I didn’t know what GOATSE was so looked it up. I think i’ve just been goatse’d.:)

Not designs as such, but I generally feel the bank/lender themselves say more than the design of the card. Like I remember getting an Aqua card and thinking that anybody seeing me using it will know that I have poor credit (even though it was due to my age and limited history)

Though once I got my first one with a proper bank, I felt a little better about it. I think the design of the card I had was nice, it was just the point it was an Aqua card..

I was in a shop the other week and saw a lady with one, and I kind of wondered to myself what her circumstances was. I mean nobody really wants one unless they need a little help building up a credit score.. But then today I saw a lady with the British Airways AMEX card thinking the complete opposite..

So not perhaps the design, but the lender as such

Might be an age thing but I'm not influenced by branding and marketing, just the bottom line.

I'm currently coming to the end of a year with Amex, so I'll get the cashback and cancel the card. Aqua reward now appears to be almost as good as any cashback option so I may well apply for that, the fact it is provided by Aqua makes no difference to me.

I don't care how "pretty" a card is, just does it do the most for me it can. Anyone else who is near enough to me when I'm using it to judge me by it is standing much too close & needs to step back before I put my pin number in.

Recently managed to get a Revolut pre-paid card (after some issues with not having photo ID)

Same sort of thing with lemon party, meat spin, tub girl etc, don't be caught out with any of those

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Just use any and recycle. it's not what it looks like,
    it's what it delivers.

It probably is an age thing in all fairness. Although to me, I've only ever seen Aqua be advertised and aimed for people with poor credit. I'm 20 but for years I've kinda grown up seeing adverts for it on the TV aimed that way, then when I was advised by a comparison website last year when I also had poor credit history :) I couldn't wait to lose the card. Although I know your credit score doesn't mean anything, but mine dangerously dropped when I closed it down and I started to wish I hadn't :rotfl:

After several chat sessions telling them i have no photo id and can i have my £10 back. They said just take a photo of me and my passport. Had to say several times NO PHOTO ID.
Told to wait upto 4 days for the money to show, but it didnt show because the account had not been verified.

Told to deposit a small amount using my debit card, tried £10 but it said its over my limit because im not verified. Tried £1 but it wont let you topup less than £10.

After several tries and popups in the app saying limit increased they told me to log out completely and sign back in. I did more by clearing the cache etc. Signed back in and eventually it let me topup the £10. And the card arrived a few days later.

If i had known it was going to be a PITA i wouldnt have bothered.

Their live chat in the app was like pulling teeth, them telling me to take a picture holding my photo ID that I do not have.

If you dont have photo ID expect hassles.

Sadly, I used to be one of those people..

I think the best card I have ever seen and held was a Amex Centurion card. But I really like the transparent cards that Amex used to do.

Now, obviously more wiser ( ish ) I'm not too fussed about card design. I've had various different ones. from Aqua to my current Amex Plat charge. Benefits outweigh the design of a card any day.

It doesn't really matter. Lucky for me, the cards I do have and use regularly I find quite pretty (Amex Platinum Cashback - I do like the way Amex cards look - and Co-op debit).

My partner also thinks my HSBC credit card is quite attractive. No idea why.
