Received Court forms, no information why.

Options
Hello forum

Received some forms from Northampton CC yesterday, I was a surprised as I don't owe anyone any money for anything. I have searched the claimant online and now discovered they are a PPC so mystery of who I apparently owe money to is solved but for what reason I don't know, I am a RK of two vehicles but there is nothing that states if it relates to either of them.

This obviously relates to parking but I am wracking my brains as I am very careful since I had a unpleasant experience 4 years ago with another company.

I have received no letters relating to this or tickets on any vehicle so I am really stumped as to how someone can just pursue and demand £272.00 from me

I have read Bargepoles Court Claim procedure thread and I am going to go online and acknowledge the claim and that I am going to defend this matter, I don't know what to submit as a defence as I still don't fully understand what would have to be said in defence.

In the particulars of claim there is a date from last year an amount and ref and also a paragraph stating further detailed information will be sent within 14 days of service.

I am a bit stumped as how do I defend something I have no knowledge of? I was going to call the company but advice on here says not to, not even sure I should mention them.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Do not phone them but tell us who the PPC is and who started the claim (Solicitor or the PPC themselves?).

PPC is Civil Enforcement and the document has Legal Team in the signed box at the bottom, underneath that it states (Claimants Legal rep)

The Claimant is Civil Enforcement and the address is the same in the second box for sending documents and payments
  • can a legal "team" sign a box , I thought it had to be an individual , perhaps a Mr swartz?

I cant post a link , but their is a cracker run down on what to do after getting papers

Thank you so far for the advice. I know I have to submit a defence but as I have an idea of what I am defending but no knowledge of the location or vehicle this would relate to how do I now proceed?

Yes you should state this in defence.

I am sure you can find a recent CEL defence example by searching on this forum board (not the whole of MSE) 'CEL Defence Legal Team'.

I have read about a Part 18 request, is this something I should do to gain details of what I am actually defending so I can form a defence?

Personally I think concentrate on the defence. 'Part 18' is a bit of a tangent.
