It was great! We got to dress up in a way you rarely do as adults, spent loads of quality time together, and, because we were all adults my friend didn't have to worry about any of her bridesmaids throwing a tantrum or doing a wee under the buffet table. :rotfl:
I did make an exception for my sister as we are very close but if my friend asked me to be a bridesmaid, I'd try to get out of it as tactfully as possible.0 -
Ah right I just got confused because you highlighted that part of my post and I wasn't sure why.
@LECJ I don't particularly want them as my bridesmaids because I would feel obligated to and as long as OH is okay with that that's all that matters, but I wasn't sure if it was the done thing to not have them.
I would never do a destination wedding for a number of reasons. I know what wedding we would like and what we can afford and I'm not giving that up to go abroad just because someone might be grumpy about not being a bridesmaid. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

My daughter was kind of expected to have her hubbys sister as bridesmaid. She was 16. They get on quite well as it is and so it wasn't much of an issue.0

I was a bridesmaid when I was 29 and again at 31. And when I got married my bridesmaids were 30 and 31. It's hardly old0 -
I think including members of your new family such as your h2b sisters is a lovely thing to do if you can, but with 2 sisters of your own to include plus 2 friends including them does seem an awful lot of bridesmaids.
MIL may be difficult about it, if she is explain that your brother isn't an usher for your husband2be, and that for the sister living further away it would probably be difficult for her to come to all the appointments and things. Maybe offer to give them other special roles on the day - perhaps perform readings or be witnesses? MIL must accept your own sisters would be bridesmaids as priority and then of course you'd want your best friends too (I'm not counting the flower girls, as obviously theyd be included on matter what as your daughters and because its really the adult bridesmaids that risk it seeming like an awfully large wedding party - nothing wrong with that of course, but you don't want it to seem like the majority of your wedding guests are bridesmaids so it depends on size of wedding!).
My friend is getting married next year and is only having me as a bridesmaids as her best friend - she has 3 sisters so it'd either be 1 or 4 and as she's planning a small wedding would rather just have 1! She did have another good friend she was considering having but she lives further away and ultimately decided it wouldnt be worth the hassleTrying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0
