This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

Morning all. Up and about to head to gym. Light workout this morning - running club last night. For any of those who know Glasgow, hill sprints up to the Tenement Museum. Ouch:eek:

Morning everyone
FurryBeastOz - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Still dark here, damp underfoot but no frost, was awful again yesterday rained most of the day, forecast is very much the same all week.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, and veg, tonight will be breaded chicken portions, pasta in a cheese and bacon sauce with a side of stir fried veg.
Yesterday work was a bit of a nightmare as I expected, we were really busy and that is set to continue for the coming weeks, realistically it will continue into April, May and June, and once we get to April we are going to work under the new structure with less staff - sometimes it makes you wonder who's running the asylum! Anyway, expecting much of the same today - at least the day's fly by.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Hugs to Lainey and anyone else in need.
At work all ready, machines chugging away.
I have to take my car to the garage tomorrow, hope it's not too expensive.
I feel like a wrung out diaphragm. I'm probably low on potassium, a common problem for me so I must buy bananas today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning All
Dryish outside and very mild, no heating on this morning. DDs bedding is on the pulley, must do some ironing some time, the basket is full.
Decided yesterday to do some healthy eating so just had salad for snacks with chicken and veg for tea. I oversteamed the pak choi so it was a bit soggy but I ate it anyway as I was hungry!
Well done on the sprints FBO, that's quite a hill for walking up let alone running!
Good to hear from you BB, hope you feel better soon.
Gers - hope your DM doesn't feel too trapped behind her scaffolding and screen.
Hugs to you Lainey.
Going for a haircut after work, just as well because it is out of control! Take care. XX0 -
Wow your an early riser! Obviously a morning person.FurryBeastOz wrote: »Morning all. Up and about to head to gym. Light workout this morning - running club last night. For any of those who know Glasgow, hill sprints up to the Tenement Museum. Ouch:eek:

Morning all.
Another sleepless night for me. Hubby coughing most of the night, a dog got me up to be let out at 3. Worrying about my daughter in S A. She's taken on rather a lot. Two beautiful boys with serious medical issues and her charity work. She seems fine but as she is so stretched contact is getting less and less. She says don't worry and that she's fine but I do worry.
Haven't seen 'prodigal' since Saturday. I know he's warm and dry but is he hungry?
Someone I'm close to is suffering the break up of a relationship. It causes me much sadness and pain as there are children involved.
On a positive note. Ive been weeing for England during the night. The diet must be working well.
Onwards and forwards (after I've had a bit more of a snooze).

Morning folks and thanks FBO for starting us off. I think we are set for another dingy day. No rain, just miserable all day. I had a rubbish tossy- turny night and feel more tired than when I went to bed. I am fed up of sleepless, restless nights now. Gone on long enough.
As soon as Mr TA vacates the bed I want to get the bedding in to wash. It'll be dried upstairs draped on the airer and radiators as is the norm recently. SK bedding takes some drying too.
Other than that it will be a pottering day with this and that waiting to be done if I CBA. Mr TA hinted at another Spoons Tuesday Steak Day late lunch so we will see if that happens! They are happening a bit too regularly these days but I'm not complaining as it saves cooking!
I had a wander round town yesterday after the docs and picked up a few bargains in D Perkins sale for my Xmas/Birthday present stash. Some bling, reduced by 70%, which will come in handy for the nieces. They passed DD's scrutiny test so they must be acceptable! Now stashed away with all the 70% off candles I got in Clintons last week.
Have a good day if you can and hugs to all in need. In particular LAINEY and BB - hope the test went as well as it could. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all and hugs to LaineyT, BBC and anyone who feels that they might like one. Judi, that must be hard.
Another day of drizzle and mizzle here, and I need to be out and about in it, still it pays the bills.
This is an odd week for me, I have altered my working days to fill in for a colleague on holiday (that's what I am doing this morning) and I have no sense of a pattern to the week. This is something that could and should have been planned well in advance.
There is one good part, I have a later start, so not actually dressed yet, still in tatty pjs. Most of my pjs are super-tatty now with the exception of one pair I bought from A*DA one size too large in the expectation that they woukd shrink like every other pair I have ever bought. They haven't of course.
Yesterday I cleaned, ironed things and made most of a knitted horse, this morning I have made the front of a baby's cardigan.
I must stir my ancient stumps and get ready for my wet journey on the bus, I just hope everyone keeps their germs to themselves.
II was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning all. A busy morning for me today. In the spirit of "you're never too old to learn something" I have my piano lesson at 10am. After my lesson I usually have coffee with my teacher and a few of our mutual friends who call in.
I have cake to make when I come home as the tin is empty. As the house troll was poorly at the weekend I didn't make anything. Lack of available "made by mum" snacks was noted yesterday so I assume he's feeling better. I'm going to make brownies as they're his favourite.
Hester, my eyes opened just a bit wider at your original statement, I'm so relieved you're only a dishrag!
FBO I was horrified by your exercise regime until I remembered my wee gran - a little old lady who was born in Glasgow chugging up the hill to Edinburgh castle with a cigarette in one hand and still walking way faster than all the tourists we were speeding past. I assume that hill walking is the norm in Glasgow life :rotfl: I'm still not sure about running up them for fun though:o
Thinking of Lainey - this is such an emotional and exhausting time0 -
Morning everyone.
It's grey, foggy and damp here. Perhaps it's my imagination but I think that the morning is lighter already.
After my clearing out three cupboards to find all the bits for my food processor I then discovered it wasn't working. I remembered that something had gone wrong with the big bowl which meant the lid didn't click into place, have no idea why it wasn't chucked away at the time. So, I've ordered a new one.
Today I'm taking the woman with dementia to visit her paralysed husband in our local hospital, it's a 75 mile round trip. I've got three big bags of recycling to take to the tip along with the broken food processor. There's also a bag of books for the doctors surgery, they sell them to raise money for some charity.
I've got some bits of serious work to do this morning involving safeguarding children. Won't take long but needs done.
FBO - walking up that hill is enough, the thought of running up it made me lie down again! Very impressive.
Cranky - Glasgow city centre is hilly, not as much as Edinburgh but still hilly.
BB - hope your procedure turns out OK.
Judi - worrying is so hard to stop.
There's a pile of washing to put away and the dishwasher to empty. This afternoon I'll run the vac over the living room floor. Kitchen floor was done yesterday after I dropped a lamp bulb when clearing out.
The scaffolding at DMs place hasn't reached her first floor yet, she reports that there's a wire compound outside with all the planks and poles so more chaos today.
Right, off to start my day. Hope that all's well with everyone.
Happy Tuesday.0 -
Morning everyone,
Cold, bright and frosty here, good to see after days of grey and rain.
Rubbish nights sleep so another dishrag here although did chuckle at original comment Hester. Just seemed to get snatches of sleep last night, probably because I need to go over to Mum's bungalow today to pick up some documents and am dreading opening the door. We have an appointment tomorrow to register the death and need her birth certificate etc.
Have a list now of stuff to do after sitting down with DB and SIL yesterday, will gradually work through after tomorrow, from dealing with the aftermath of Dad's death I do know we need several original certificates as many people won't accept scans etc.
Still, it is what it is so will grit my teeth and plough on, at least it keeps me busy.
Thinking of you BB, have a good day everyone and take care folks x0
