  • I bought the good guide to dog friendly pubs, hotels and B&B's 2007/8

Its got so many and a little write up about each place. It cost £9.99 from smiths

If you pm me the area where you are visiting I can then give you the names of all the places in that area.;)

  • Where I live in Somerset, there are loads of pubs that allow dogs. We do visit London fairly regularly and we have had quite a lot of success finding pubs that allow dogs. One of our favourites is the Portobello Gold in Westbourne Grove but there are plenty more.

The Pets Allowed website looks like a good website for finding dog friendly pubs - it is fairly new but seems to be growing fast.

I dont think we have ever had a problem with pubs and our dogs and most pubs with decent restaurants normally seem to have an area with doggie people. London Id be wary of taking my dog anyway as its so noisy and crowded that I think mine would be a bit nervous with all the people.

Husband lives in Germany and ever where we go there are dogs. Shops, bars, restaurants, theme parks, even the local zoo. It amazes me (in a good way) every time I see it, am seriously considering taking my girls and moving out there.

Its something I really regret about not living on the continent ...there are other welfare issues, of course, but the ability to take a dog out and about, and sometimes to work with you has to be better for the dogs. when I've worked in places with animals about I've always felt the mood was more up beat and yet relaxed.

DH wasn't even allowed one of the dogs for a visit office on take your dog to work day :(

Glad you had a nice trip even if you missed the terracotta army.

doggie pubs/ is useful. We are lucky that our local pub is very traditional and dog friendly as the landlord has a dog. Sometimes its too busy to take the dogs in as they are too large to fit under a table but its nice to have the option especially in winter. The AA pub & restaurant guide has a search option for dog friendly.

Travelodge are not so dog friendly now as they charge £20 per dog per stay, cost us more for the dogs than the room on our last stay. Campanile hotel was nice for similar price and they only charged a reasonable £5 per dog. Its annoying that some places claim to be pet friendly, turn out to only allow 1 small dog.
