Internet access via a mobile network provider

Hi
I am looking for a bit of advice on the best/cheapest way for me to access the net via a mobile provider . I have bt broadband at the moment with a bt landline but don't use the line to make any calls . I noticed that some mobile phone providers now offer internet access ( not on the mobile its self) .
If anyone knows of any good deals please can you let me know also will i need to sign a contract .

I am also looking into this method of phone / isp. I know Vodafone does it but it's not very good i think, and am keeping an eye on Orange, used to be with the for ISP and were OK. I can remember reading somewhere that Orange have got a new offer coming out on the 24th September. Could someone confirm or deny wether it was on here or have I seen it somewhere else.

3 (three) do a few packages that include a free modem i pay £15 a month for 3 gig of transfer. Its quite fast too.

i was looking at 3 today and its a free modem with £15 per month for 24 months. but i have no idea if this is any good with reference to downloads/speed etc.3GB 3GB of data lets you: Send 2000 plain text emails AND surf the web for 100hrs AND download 100 two minute videos AND download 200 music tracks. turbo coveragea area 2.8 mbs http://www.three.co.uk/personal/products_services_/mobile_broadband_/index.ompWhat does this mean in reality, will it be like a regular broadband connection speedwise and i will it be suffient for banking, playing of facebook, MSE, emails, instant messenger etc?

3gb would be fine if you stay away from big dowloads. Vodafone offer this for about £30 according to the catalog on my desk (my be old). Free modem.

tbh there are only about 4 providers in the UK so why not just look on their websites - you'll get up to date info and all the detail !!

What constitues a 'big download'? is this a movie, or a tv programme or a song? sorry to sound stupid, but i dont download and have no idea how much space these deals are offering in real terms. Does surfing, ie going on MSE use some of the 3GB?

Doing anything on your connection will use up your bandwidth allocation. Everyone has different uses of the net, so until you measure your usage, you won't know!

I wanted a mobile broadband service and after looking around I decided to go with 3 on their £15p/m package for 12 months.

where did you get a 12 month 3 contract. i called them up today and they said all their broadband packages are for 24months! please let me know.
