Towing By Landowner

Signs have appeared at the office park I work on over the weekend. The landlord referenced on the signs in the landowner. Is the landowner allowed to tow vehicles under PoFA?

There's so much wrong with these signs, I know ("penalty", "illegally" etc) and I doubt much will happen in the way of enforcment, just the towing bit got me thinking.

Towing/clamping is not legal - unless the land is covered by byelaws.

  • Interesting they don't charge and as towing is illegal there, how do they stop interlopers?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

That sign appears to be illegal; towing hasn't been legal since 2012 (assuming this is not in NI). I think you could have some fun...I am guessing whoever put the signs up didn't check the law and realise they are threatening a crime.

Not much different to trespassers will be shot.
The Proof will be in if the threats are carried out, might be worth mentioning it to your colleges, plus informing them of POFA

Why not do a critique and paste it on the notice. You are perhaps saving the signposter from threatening illegal action so they should be grateful.

"Illegal, offence, penalty" surely a misrepresentation if authority too!
