Cant Get BT fibre ( infinity)

Live in a block of flats , every other flat around us can get BT infinity but we cant. I am with Virgin( tv+fibre+phone) and considering haggling or switching to BT infinity.
i don't quite grasp why we cant based on the fact that they operate in the area, and all my neighbours can get it, but more importantly i am looking for an answer to how we can get it in our flat.
anyone here knows how to go about it?
thanks
Huso

What does it show when you enter your postcode here?

If you have no BT line you cannot get BT Infinity. That is probably why your neighbours have it and you dont. Virgin may have left their lines in for when you moved in but if BT have never installed a line thats what you will need to do.0

If all your neighbours are served by the same cab and can get FTTC, then it may be that there is no more FTTC capacity at that cab. That is the only possible reason.
As above, you will however need a new BT-based line provisioning, but it doesn't have to be by BT. Check on the Plusnet site as well (which will be cheaper). Also check your LLU options with TalkTalk and Sky.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
doesn't recognise my tel number, or if I use my postcode to search I can see all the other flats but our door number is 31 and list of addresses jumps from 30 to 32.0

Post #3 looks to be the winner to me, have you tried asking BT?
You can still use BT's prices in haggling with Virgin regardless.0 -
Using your phone number won't work because it won't be recognised as a BT Wholesale number on the BTW checker, your address is probably the real issue, situations like yours can cause problems , if you are in flat 31 and the address checker jumps from flat 30 to flat 32 then your address doesn't 'exist' and won't match, you may as well be looking for flat 3031.
You may have some luck calling them instead of trying on line, as they may be able to locate your address manually.
Is your flat part of a purpose built 'block' of flats with proper structured addresses or a building that has been sub divided into flats at some point in the past ?, if it's the latter, quite often addresses are entered 'informally' like 'upper flat' or 'top flat' that sort of thing, or if the address has a street name and number, and/or building name, it could be 'flat 31, 10 Coronation St, or flat 31, James House , Coronation St, or any variation on flat, street or street number /and or buildings name...you can see where the confusion occurs.
What does the Royal Mail site show for your address ? does your address 'exist' on that site ?, as far as BTW are concerned a 'matched' address is one where BTW's records match up with RM's records, if you don't have a matched address ordering on line probably won't work0 -
Following on from the post by iniltous.
I've seen flats being initially labelled as plot numbers which were then used for the first utility bills.
Some weeks later 'proper' numbers were assigned, this resulted in flats having 2x numbers until everything evened out as flat owners shifted provider and the address database updated.Move along, nothing to see.0
