I go into a PAH regular i have quite a few fish and like to look at them i've noticed many many times that there has been dead fish in the tanks that other fish are eating the dead ones!! or some that are semi alive and nearly dead ones that are just rotting away. Its disgusting and cruel, I dont know who to complain to i have told the staff loads of times that there are dead fish and they dont do anything!
In the adoption centre do you have to buy them?
Many thanks

Sadly sometimes its when people just get bored with them.
I took on 2 ratties which were said to be biters :rotfl: nope they are the most lovely boys now. They just did not have enough attention. Went past the young cute stage I guess so were returned. the previous owner just wrote unable to keep.
Staff in my local store are good with the animals. One guy is rat ma:rotfl: d and worked with:rotfl: my two when they were signed over.BSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !

I feel that if they were really serious about helping rescue animals they would stop sellign 2new" animals at all, and either just direct people to a rescue or work in conjunction with one.
As long as they continue buying animals from breeders, they're just sending more out into the world, of which a proportion will end up in rescue. There's already so many that need homes, why create more?!August grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -
The staff are nice in our PAH and do seem to care about the animals, but the 'adoption centre' does break my heart. The animals go quickly from there but pretty sure that no home checks are done. If home checks were done at pet shop stage then nowhere near as many animals would end up at rescue centres. Our (rescue) house bunny is gorgeous and lives the life of riley with us. Both myself and boyfriend adore Bob, he's the centre of our lives0

I went in yesterday and asked about it. The lady in the plymouth store said most of the animals there are either returns or ones that didnt sell. You only pay a donation of your choice for them and they basically make a loss on all of them. All donation money goes towards animal charitys and shelters. I Did have a leaflet with all the info and the chairtys on it put cant find it. If i do ill post again and let you know what it says.
Im really into animal welfare etc and from what i could see it didnt seem like a money making scheme at all.Current Debts To Fight Off

Just wish it was illegal for any pet shop to be allowed to sell livestock.PAH is marketed as a pet supermarket - do we need to buy animals the way we would a loaf of bread?
If there were no pet shops with animals available and people had to find breeders and make an effort to get the pet of their choice there would be far less impulse buys and far fewer pets in rescues and "adoption centres"0 -
I think the easiest thing to start helping the animals (Without banning it all together which wud be most ideal) wud be for people to have to have a pet licence to keep ANY sort of animal. Maybe have to go on a course to know how to look after them. That would at least cut down on all the idiots that just wanna buy an animal for fun and forget about it 5mins later.Current Debts To Fight Off

Unfortunately here we do still have the dog licience - the revenue is used to pay for the dog wardens to round up the dumped dogs and to keep the pounds open0
