Flight cancelled alternative flight arranged but to different home airport

Hi. My BA return flight from New York to Gatwick was cancelled within hours of departure. Very poor information or help at New York airport. Alternative flight to Gatwick could be arranged 36 hours later or flight to Heathrow immediately. Took the offer of the flight to Heathrow. Return coach tickets not valid at Heathrow. Either had to go to Gatwick to pick up coach or pay for the coach from Heathrow. Can I claim for the stress caused at the lack of information available at New York or just the extra coach costs?

    What should have been your arrival time at Gatwick? and what time did you get into Heathrow? You could also put your flight details into EuClaim and Bottonline and see if they say you are due compensation.

    Neither, but you could ask BA for a Customer Service gesture.

    Surely OP is entitled to compensation if BA cancelled flight at short notice?
    Heathrow is not "local" to Gatwick.

    No compensation due if

    (iii) they are informed of the cancellation less than seven days before the scheduled time of departure and are offered re-routing, allowing them to depart no more than one hour before the scheduled time of departure and to reach their final destination less than two hours after the scheduled time of arrival.

    No because they flew her to Heathrow, not Gatwick, her orginal destination.

    OP is entitled to a) the cost of transportation from Heathrow to Gatwick and b) 600 euros, if they arrived in Gatwick more than two hours later than they should have arrived at Heathrow, and if the cause of the original cancellation wasn't extraordinary circumstances.
