Credit rating query

  • You will only get a financial association if you apply for finance in joint names. then and only then will an association be created.

    However..

After that association has been made further credit checks in your name will also check hers and vice versa.

    Hope that helps

BT report for some stupid reason...this is BT Sport only....SKY does not. No association made between myself and my girlfriend

Also, surely this topic is pointless? Sure not one lender in the world is going to care about a broadband provider if it's not late and/or in default?

But in case after case reported here and in the press it's late when it isn't, and it's a default when it isn't. In other words, broadband (and mobile phone and energy) providers have a nasty habit of reporting lies about their customers to the CRAs. This can and does result in them being denied credit through no fault of their own. To play safe, my advice remains - try and find providers that don't report you to the CRAs.

Not necessarily. Depends on the provider. In fact I didn't believe it was even possible for a financial association to be created with a broadband contract.

You are financially associated to someone if you have a joint account or mortgage or made a joint application with that person. However, living together or having both your names on a utility bill does not make you financially associated.
My water bill is used to determine financial associations on clearscore. To OP, will the mortgage be joint? Surely you will have a financial association then.

Water companies are another of example of a company that will, given the opportunity, create an unwanted and malicious financial association. Never disclose to them the names of occupants in a property. With this type of company there is a deeper, and more sinister, issue to be aware of. They do not have your authorisation to carry out credit checks or report your account to the CRAs, but they don't care about this and, with the connivance of the CRAs, they do so anyway. If you are unhappy about this, complain to the ICO.

As above. You can have that financial association removed I would take that up with Equifax directly.
