Credit rating query

Hi, I hope I might be able to get clarification on a matter that I've been wondering about.
I am planning to get my first mortgage in the next few months, so am wanting to keep my credit rating as healthy as possible.
I am planning to take out a broadband contract for 12 months in my name at my girlfriend's house. Will this link my credit rating to her, or her house? I'm a little unclear on the financial association aspect of this.
Thank you in advance for any advice!

Why bother ?
Yes it will create a financial association.
Why can't she do it in her name, and you cover the bills ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Looks like the best option, considering. Thank you!0

Not necessarily. Depends on the provider. In fact I didn't believe it was even possible for a financial association to be created with a broadband contract.
You are financially associated to someone if you have a joint account or mortgage or made a joint application with that person. However, living together or having both your names on a utility bill does not make you financially associated.0 -
I see. you mean the broadband provider?0

Sky for example do not even report to any of the CRA's but that aside unless you share some kind of account with your partner I don't see why a financial association would be put on your report especially if the account is just under 1 name.
I could be wrong....0 -
I can see how the financial association would not be made between us as persons, but I'm still unsure as to whether I could potentially be negatively (or even positively) affected by an association to the address. Virgin's India-based customer service line were eager to help but didn't quite grasp the question I was asking. I am certain that they will perform a credit check when I apply for the account, however...0

Ok, Correct they will more than likely credit check you and it would create an address association this however will not have an effect on your credit score or your ability to gain credit unlike a financial association to another person.0

Your being the account holder at your girlfriend's address should not, strictly speaking, create a financial association. In theory it is not permitted for a provider to do so on that basis. However, many providers of utilities and services don't play by the rules and create malicious associations (and the CRAs let them do so). Under no circumstances should you divulge your girlfriend's name to the provider. Ideally, use Sky, as someone above suggested. It is the safest option if you're going to be taking out a mortgage - no CRA reporting; no chance of errors being reported against you and no credit checking.0

BT report for some stupid reason...this is BT Sport only....SKY does not. No association made between myself and my girlfriend
Also, surely this topic is pointless? Sure not one lender in the world is going to care about a broadband provider if it's not late and/or in default?0 -
Having a broadband account at a particular address will not create a financial association with other occupants of the house.
However, more to the point, do you actually live at your girlfriend's house? Are you on the electoral roll at her house? Are all your other credit accounts at her address? From your question I assume the answer is No. This is what will cause you the problem not a financial association.0
