Ah, but you've had a great time and paid off less, rather than adding more debt.

    Good to hear from you

We have had a great time, after sunch a miserable start to the year, I have loved the last few months. So much fun! Whenever my motivation starts to wain, I need to remind myself that this is what I want, to travel and to be able to enjoy it, so I need to get solvent!

    Musings from me today

In 2017, we will have paid off £11500.
We were gifted £4000, however we spent most of that on holidays, which we wouldt have done wihtout the gifts (I dont think we would anyway)
    £1500 Croatia
    £2500 Turkey
    £2000 Iceland

Next year we will have just one trip in June, and budget £3000
Next year we wont have the gifts
Next year, Mr Paws is on a lower wage (approx £200 per month less)

    Paid off £11500
    Gifted £4000
Holiday spend more than a normal year - £3000
Paid less next year - £2400

So if you compare like for like this year vs next year, it looks like we would pay off next year - £8100? Surely not - we can do better than that - no?

In monthly payments we pay £1323 - which means we should pay double that so this year, we have allowed spends elsewhere (yes bits and bobs on credit card)

So next year, NO SPENDING ON CREDIT CARDS, no matter how controlled we think we are.

    That is all.
    Debt Jan 2017 = £42k
    May 2022 = £15k

    Welcome back Paws.

You’ve done really well to pay off so much & at least your gift money went towards experiences rather than more “stuff”. All we seem to have done is add to our debt!

Good luck on the no credit card spending, I’m sure you’ll manage it.

    Hi BOP

We have just completed a whole year without using a CC ( not that we have any to use now anyway). I never thought it possible as we got into the habit of ‘oh well which card shall we use’. It’s amazing that we are still here, still surviving and managing our finances. It just goes to show that it can be done.

Good luck on your fresh new year plans and you have paid off a massive amount this year Well done you :T

Yay Paws , you have done really well this year. I haven't used a cc for 12 months apart from my blip on a website the other day.

This time next year we will be nearly debt free.

Ooh statements in bright red Paws - very good - you're stuck with that challenge now! :D

That seems like a good starting point to aim for on paying off debt - and as you say, I just bet you can do better as well! :T
