This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

            Morning everyone.
Looks wet outside so no frost in Glasgow. I had to scrape the car yesterday.
I took things very easy after the shopping morning. Didn't go into town, part of me really wanted to and part of me CBA'd. I sat down with a new crime book by Alex Gray and read for most of the day.
Today I'll be driving home!
Lainey - as always on my thoughts. Strength to you and your family.
And a Happy Sunday to all.
An old ditty came into my mind yesterday -
Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not
We'll weather the weather whatever the weather
Whether we like it not!0 -
Morning folks and thanks for the start GERS. I was of the same mind as you yesterday! I planned to go in town after lunch (for nothing in particular) but the fire and my book won and I spent the afternoon feet up on the sofa!
We have had overnight rain here and it has seen off all but little pockets of the lying snow. I am sure it will be back before the winter is out!
Lunch today is the remains of the roast beef in gravy I froze at Xmas. With mash, cauli cheese, carrots and swede which is still to prep! There is a bit of last night's chicken curry left which will feed us tonight.
DS called in late yesterday afternoon on his way to see his new lady love. She lives just down the road from us and I think he is now regretting his move from these parts. It was to put distance between him and the psycho ex at the time and, though it's nearer to work for him, it's not good for his social life! As much as he loves his apartment I can foresee another move back here before long! (As long as we don't end up with the mountain of boxes and belongings again!!)
Have a good day and hugs to all in need. Thinking of LAINEY as always. Take care all xx ps a warm welcome to the thread NAN!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
            Good morning everyone :hello:
Thank you Gers for starting us off and I remember my gran teaching me that rhyme
.
It's blooming freezing again so I have put the heating on for a bit. The slow cooker has a piece of brisket in that has been cooking overnight so the house smells lovely now. I am on my second cup of tea so all is right in my world
.
Today is a cleaning up and tidying day. I am going to tackle the bedroom again as there is still more stuff to find permanent homes for and embarrassingly quite a lot of Christmas bits and pieces to tidy away. The girls have to tidy their bedrooms as they are disgusting and they can do some chores to help around the house too. Hubby is making dinner for us and I will get him to give me a hand shifting stuff in the bedroom.
If there is any time left today I want to finally start sewing up some of my knitted toys. I have started making Easter chicks so I need room back in my knitting bag.
Lainey, you and your mum are still in my thoughts xx
Caterina, I am glad you had the all clear from your mammagram x
Well, I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -

I have a humane trap which involves having to release the mouse a couple of miles away (I read somewhere that they can find their way back if you release them locally), can you imagine having to do that each time you catch one?! Especially when you don't drive, lol. Also I have the traditional traps which I don't want to use in case Scampi finds one, there aren't many places to hide them from him. So that leaves the electronic mouse trap, which of course I don't have the right size batteries for

            Morning all
Hugs to Lainey and anyone else in need.
Wet here but not frosty, still feels cold though.
I had a lazy day yesterday and did the bare minimum of chores, today we are popping over to DD1's with a replacement toy as the original broke on Christmas day.
I've started a third cushion cover, this time I'm doing the Mile a Minute stitch.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, as ever Lainey is in mt thoughts just now.
It's a grey wet morning, bit different to yesterday. We have to take the set of drawers back and exchange them, will call on DD2 whilst we are in town.
OH complaining that he is waking up in the night cold, so I guess I am going to have to change the duvet for the 10.5 one when I strip the bed tomorrow. I was hoping to get by with the lighter one with the quilt on top.
Nothing much going on here just now, I cannot sew the room is in a state and will stay that way until we have got the day bed up, so doing a lot of reading.
I was so tired last night I put my light out before OH had settled down, woke first just after 7 next thing I knew it was almost 9am, just had brekkie, need to stir our stumps and get up.0 -
            Morning all,
Cold and wet here today so won't be out walking for a bit just yet.
Grandparents are coming for Sunday dinner, got a lovely chicken this week. Will strip it and use any leftovers for tea tomorrow-possibly a pasta dish.
Got another load of washing to do and then just need to sort school/work things ready for tomorrow.
Feeling pretty positive and organised today which makes a change lol
Another cuppa time and then settle to read through the threads.
Hugs to all who need or want one.

            Morning all.
It's a dull, wet day here so our planned walk is unlikely to go ahead. We were back late last night so will be pottering this morning. There was lots of food left over at last night's party so have brought my remaining cake home, which pleased DH. Some of it will be going in the freezer for another day though.
Will love you and leave you now.
Enjoy your Sunday x0 -
Ugh, what a cold, gloomy, wet day. It's a sewing day I think and perhaps if DS is watching the match by himself later we'll go down to see it as well. We haven't missed sky sports since we cancelled it but I'm a Man Utd supporter and DH a Liverpool fan so it would be nice to see this one. If he's got mates going round we won't go and embarrass him. His DW bought him a new (55") TV for what they call his boys' room for Christmas so he might well have a few friends round.
The decorating is nearly finished, with any luck we'll be able to take down the plastic sheeting today and have a complete room again. DH is at the gym now but will get on with the painting when he gets back.
My happy thing yesterday was going on a cold but beautiful walk just at sunset.0 -
            Good morning,
Thank you Gers for starting us, love the ditty!
I had a good night sleep in spite of being on my own (not used to, quite nervous), prayed a bit, read a lot, fell asleep around 11, woke up briefly once and drifted back until 7am, I am so grateful for this!
As I got up, first thing in the morning (after feeding my pitifully meowing cat, that is) I lit a candle for Lainey and her DM, sending prayers of peace.
Just had a nice bowl of porridge and cup of lemon water with my supplements and feeling ready to start the day.
Plan today was to dash to farmers market before church, but I have changed it in the interest of Slow Living, why rush? I can go there after church, after chatting with the other parishioners over a hot drink, after a light lunch. It closes at 2 and I can be there easily by 1:30, then go to visit my friend in the hospital and bring her the fresh fruit I promised her.
This afternoon all I have to do is wait for DH to come back as he will be driving back after visiting his cousin in hospital, he and DS might have a bit of lunch before travelling so I expect he will be back around 4ish pm. I hope to see DS too but he said he might go straight back home to his flat. Ah well, whatever makes life easier for him.
Planning a quiet evening in, got beans out of the freezer for a stew tonight. I am not sure what I will have for lunch, perhaps some scrambled tofu with vegetables, something nice and quick before going to the market.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
