TV Broken - can I get any money for it?

8 year old samsung 32 inche led tv. Worked fine until a few weeks ago when it had a crackling sound finally packed in last week. I researched it but and seems like there was a global problem with this batch of samsung tvs due to incorrect capacitor installed. Samsung just referred me to the local service centre which is just a local repair shop wanting £48 just to look at it.
Anyway, I have a new tv now and the old one looks like it's heading to the tip this week - or is there anywhere I can get a few quid for it? It worked perfectly until this last few weeks.

eBay or Gumtree as "For parts or not working".
Google for a YouTube video detailing what's needed to replace the capacitor. Then learn how to do this, or find someone who can.0 -

My current TV has had 2 repairs, given to me because it wouldnt power on. Fixed for less than £1.50 by replacing the capacitors on the power side. very easy all labelled.
2nd time the sound went which required a board, a whopping £12 but worth it if it lasts.
Next time its probably a new one though. Unless i find a TV bigger than 42" for under £20?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

you need two tvs, one with sound and one with picture, then just have them both on same programme at same time.0 -

About 4 years ago our Samsung 42 inch LED TV failed. A new circuit board cost me about £30. It was easy to fit and sorted the problem. The TV is still in regular use today.
If you are not confident about fitting new capacitors, google for a replacement circuit board.0 -

Do you want to fix it? Could be something simple as others have suggested. Post a picture of the power supply board if you can.0
