EE Home Broadband

Hi,
Myself and my mother-in-law recently took out standard home broadband contracts with EE. We have both had the contract for around three months now and find the Internet so slow. As an example it can take a long time to stream things through our Amazon Fire Stick; a forty minute programme took an hour and a half to watch.
We have contacted EE who sent an engineer out, who then told us that the speeds and connection are good and we need to leave doors open for the signal to get to where it needs to be. They have now offered to send a specialist engineer out but have stated if the problem is found to lie with us we would be charged.
We want to end our contracts as we are not receiving the service we are paying for but they are completely refusing to release us from the contract without incuring the penalty charges.
Any advice would be greatly received.
Thanks.

Run a speed test and see what you are getting.
Try a wired connection - maybe the wifi channel needs changing.
What company were u with before.
I don't think EE routers are very good. Maybe try an old router0 -
Unless your doors contain wire mesh or steel plating, I don't think that leaving them open is going to boost the signal much. I think your 'EE engineer' (they don't have any engineers) was having a little joke at your expense...
Once the signal is delivered to the router, the rest is down to you-not the supplier. As above, check your ethernet speed vs wi-fi first, and then change the wi-fi channel if needed. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
