My daughter is a teacher and she phoned me as she walked home on Friday. It was nearly 6pm and she had been in school since 7.30 am. As we were chatting he said she was feeling faint. Then she said, "Thinking about it I haven't had anything to eat today." I don't know when she is expected to contact all the parents who want to speak to her when she hasn't even got time to eat a biscuit, some days she struggles to find time to go to the loo. Her partner confiscates her computer/phone at 9 pm so that she has time before bed without e mails coming in.
I'm glad it's not just me. I'm in school at 7.30am and leave between 5.30-6pm. I also get to the end of the day not having had any food! It makes my husband so angry! Same as your daughter with the toilet...it's just insane! Pretty sure that a lot of what many teachers do would be illegal in many other professions! (I'm sure other professions like nursing are the same)
In relation to OP's post, I'm a head of faculty and have never moved a child down two sets in one go, it seems quite unusual. However as mentioned by others the standards of a top set will vary enourmously from school to school. Top sets in good and outstanding schools will have very different outcomes to those in special measures. Also remember the is no standardised grading or levelling system anymore. The government have got rid of national curriculum levels but some schools continue to use them. Others are using a version of the new 9-1 grades (but as the exam boards haven't provided grade descriptors yet, the standards vary from school to school). There are even some schools who are just using their own grading system! A confusing time for schools so I can only imagine how so it must be as a parent!"More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them." - Harold J. Smith:cool:0 -

I feel for both your pain. My partner is in the same boat, regularly no lunch. Although, I believe no lunch is more of a choice than we admit to ourselves. Think about it this way...are you working effectively with no lunch? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

When else are you supposed to answer the emails, see heads of year, teachers in other departments etc
It probably isn't effective but sadly with the way schools are set up and workloads/ targets, what are you meant to do?0 -
My mum's pal is a teacher and says Huel is a godsend...
